another tire pressure question

On my XE Titan on the tire's it states to never exceed 40 psi, but my tires are set all at 37 psi cold and im sure it heats up past 40 while driving...is that safe??? is the warning on the tire for cold temperature or should i lower them all down to 35?

Anyone will tell you that "max weight @ 'xx' PSI" is for COLD tires.
You can safely inflate them to 40 and carry the max payload of your truck and not have problems.

If you drop to 35, that is probably OK too... with negligable losses in fuel economy and treadwear, probably too small to notice.

Yeah the pressure is for cold tires, the maufactures has done all the testing for ya, so you can air them to the max cold and be good to go!

I just checked mine today and they all had 44lbs. The tire max says 44lbs, is this okay or should I drop them a few lbs? They are the 18' Goodyear Wranglers.

It depends on if they were hot or cold. If they were cold then they are over-inflated. If hot and you let air out, when they cooled down they would probably be under-inflated.

When I checked them earlier, they were hot. I just checked them cold a few minutes ago and they were at 42lbs, is this too much?

I like to check mine after sitting overnight, that way I can get a truly accurate reading. If you check them in the morning or after it has sit without driving for several hours and they are at 42 I would definitely air them down to 35 psi.

Just remember there are three different tires on the Titan

1. 285/70517 with the OR PKG max pressure of 35PSI (I have these)
2. the 18" tires (max 44 psi)
3. the 17" tire for the XE PKG (not the same tire or size as OR PKG)

All of these have different tire pressures check you sidewall for your max cold inflation pressures then can play with your air pressures from there to suit your needed.
