Well, I decided to take a break from being sick and go offroading again. Again, the TITAN impressed onlookers with its offroad & mudding skills for such a large truck with stock BFG R/T's. But, again, the TITAN got stuck, and this time it was worse than ever. Both passenger side tires were completely submerged in mud, and we had to get a tow chain going to get me out.
Luke hitched his Jeep to my front tow hooks, and a Dodge Ram desiel hooked to Luke's tow hooks. After 3 hard yanks, I broke free. Boy was I worried about that one; I was worried we were going to have to get a tractor to get me out.
Thank the Lord, though, I broke free with a little shove from Above
We continued to offroad in Luke's and his neighbor's jeeps, and Luke went down a 45 degree, 6 feet drop. He got stuck, and we pulled him out backwards with the other Jeep. I seriously didn't think it could be done, but we made it. Craziest thing ever seeing that Jeep pop up from the abyss like that.
Offroading is too much fun. Washing up afterwards is not, however...
Here are a few shots of that drop-off Luke went down. I didn't think he was serious, so I said "we can just pull you out forward if you get stuck". well, there was to forward to get to, only one way back.
amazing the towing capacity these Jeeps have with such a small engine. very rugged. i've been sold on them the past few weeks!
would be a nice toy to have with the titan, along with an RX-7
I've been in many offroad adventures and never got stuck..and in lesser vehicles than the Titan. It looks to me that you need to brush up on your off-road driving skills before you lose the truck or get hurt. You need to know your vehicles limits, and know where to and where not to go.
A good driver could drive a RWD Mercury Monarch off-road....to some extent anyhow.

sorry, i must have missed that book at Barnes & Nobel - "Offroad Limits of a 2004 Nissan Titan 4x4 OR"
no way to find out the limits of a vehicle until you try it yourself. after two weekends of offroading and getting stuck twice, i have an idea what my titan can and cannot do now. i am no expert offroader, although i do have some common sense. the part i got stuck in above was too sloped (5-10 degree slope), and although i tried to keep two wheels on dry land, i slid into the marsh. i'm learning though, and having fun along the way.
i'm no going to do something that will complete destroy my titan (flip / roll it, submerge in water, drive off a cliff, etc), but i will test the limits and see what it can handle.
what have i realized? front and rear lockers would be real nice, trucks have terrible approach and departure angles, and I seriously need some BFG M/T's...
Hey TitanAggie,
Your doing just what you are suppose to do. Learn the limits of the vehicle when you have other around to give you aid. I really don’t see how someone could be an expert at off roading that has never been stuck.
I had an old international scout that would go through just about anything, but when I got it stuck, it was stuck. Planted it in an iced over mud hole past the doors, stuck a 4x4 tractor trying to get it out and ended up pulling the whole mess out with a dozer. Stuck, but fun.
Keep doing what your doing and you’ll know the limits of the truck, and you’ll still press just a little more each time. THANKS for sharing the Pictures.

Titan4x4Aggie,
Sure glad I don't have to clean your Titan up. Mine has been dirty but not like that!!

I agree about the tires. Funny, though, I thought I remembered that 4 wheel offroad article(Titan, F150, Silverado, Tundra) mentioning that the Titan has good approach/departure angles for a pickup. Maybe you mean in comparison to a jeep (which has all 4 wheels at the corners)
four wheel drive is the same on any vehicle. THe tires make all the difference. I, for one would not have gone through a rut like that with the stock rugged trail BFG's. Next time gitcha some Mickey THompsons or at least some BFG MT's and lift that sucker!! Did you use the e-locker in this incident.

He has an early build (11/03) I don't think the OR package had the e-locker then.

Well Said!! If two jeeps and a Diesel 4x4 have your back, that's a good time to go play.

You're not muddin' if you don't get stuck at least once.
Way to go! I was supposed to go get muddy this last weekend, but my buddy's truck had problems - mice ate through his fuel injector wiring. I tried to convince him 6 out of 8 cylinders was fine, but he wussed out...

What is this, hmmm I guess you are the offroading god. Dude it looks like to me he was having fun. He saw a challange and he took it. I get so tired of post like this. There is always somebody thats been there done that, but can do something or have a better idea than you do. Get over it he got stuck. Im sorry dude but iv seen pro off roaders get stuck. I guess you should take up the sport then you would be a world champ right. get over yourself!
Wow...lol..relax folks. My post wasn't a slap on the wrist. Just a suggestion that with experience, getting stuck can become a thing of the past....or that maybe I don't have the kahunas he does...lol.
Sorry if I came across as a know it all. That wasn't my goal. Go mudding and enjoy. And it's most definitely smart not to offroad alone.
