You are right about wind chill but wind does make a difference in some situations. If you have been driving your Titan in cold weather and then park it in a garage the oil and coolant temps will stay warmer for a greater length of time than it would in the blowing wind outside. The wind blowing over the engine block and oil pan will dissipate the heat a lot more quickly.
Absolutely. But even though the wind will cool it quicker, if the outside temp is 20 degrees, and the noted windchill is -10, the oil/engine block temp will still go down only to the ambient temp which is 20 degrees.
Wind chill only effects inanimate objects. Now if you were standing out in that same 20 degrees, lol...you'd have problems with that -10 wind chill.

If you lived in Florida what oil would you run? We are getting down to the 20's tonight with wind chill but thats rare. Would you run 5w-30 or 10w-30?
I'd run 5w-30 from November 1st-March 1st. Rest of the year 10w-30 would work fine in the hot Florida climate. Really though 5w30 would probably be fine in the Titan's engine year round if you want, as it doesn't really seem to shear the oil at all from the used oil analysis that I've seen so far. On a vehicle that was shear prone, if i was using conventional oil I would run the smallest spread (10w-30) possible but on the Titan I think it doesn't matter that much. Nissan builds some tight motors. Now if they could just get them to stop injesting cat material (QR25DE).
Jet Tech also got some great results with 0w-40 Mobil 1, which is the A3 rated oil that works in Eurocars, so that may be a good choice as well in Florida if you want to step up to a synthetic that is readily available.

It was 7 when I started my Titan this morning. It did crank about 1 second longer, and slower, but it did indeed fire up and run normally. The first to 2nd shift was pretty rough, but the tranny fluid soon warmed up and all was fine. Steering was stiff too. But, it does seem to warm up quick once driving.

The only problem I ever had with starting in cold weather was in high school. I grew up in Grand Forks ND and -80f (yep, that's right) windchills were not uncommon.
Needless to say after school one day my 81 VW Rabbit Diesel just wouldn't crank over. I would say 1 out of 5 cars wouldn't start that afternoon.
My dad came over with his pickup and an old tire tied to the front of his truck and pushed me around until it bump started... it ran rough for a few minutes, but then made it home. (fuel gelling isn't usually a problem in that area since most places that sell diesel have it treated very well for that area).
Since moving to Southern MN, I haven't even thought about installing a block heater... in ND, it was mandatory and they actually came standard on most cars.
So, I love it when people gripe about the weather here... I find it pleasant.. even on the stormiest of days... the roads are empty, so we take our ATVs out and have a blast!
Right now it's 18F and actually raining/sleeting... VERY odd... haven't seen that for a while. I would expect snow, not sleet. I was gonna take the Titan out to get groceries, but I think I'll wait.

I live in Grand Forks right now. The temp Sunday morning was -14. The truck started up with no problem. I do wish the heated seats warmed up quicker; the ones in my VW Passat are quick to heat up. I also wish the Titan had heated steering wheels like my wife's Maxima.

I feel for ya... and when I hear people anywhere saying "man, it's cold" I know they must have never lived in Grand Forks. I lived there for 25 years, and delivered newspapers for 10 of those years in that weather. Played hocket (practice was always outdoors)... come to think of it.. we were outside a LOT in that weather.
GF has sure come a long way though since the big flood.
I also agree with the heated seats. My wife's Murano's seats heat up much quicker and seem to get hotter. It seems the colder it gets, the longer it takes to get the seats warm... I've let it sit warming up for a few minutes and they still don't warm up until about 10 miles down the road.
With leather and cold weather, you need to have them heated. leather gets too cold in winter and hot in summer, which is another reason I passed on an LE. I did, however, have a 2k Maxima SE with the heated CLOTH seats and those were like a heating pad! worked excellent.
Also remember that Nissans heated seats are thermostatically controlled. If it's not that cold in the vehicle, they won't get as hot...they'll also shut off if they heat up too much. Mine I could feel them come on and go off.
