How to fix a Paint Chip?

It appears something quite pointy put a ding on my bed side. I say pointy, because there is a very small indention in the sheet metal, like where a point hit, but the area is very small, not like a door ding. Almost looks like a BB gun. After cleaning off all the loose disturbed paint, left a spot about 3/8" in diameter where the paint is popped off clean. For temporary protection, I globbed in touch up paint with the brush applicator. However, surface is obviously not smooth. Color matches, the radiant silver hides it well. How can I get a smooth finish? Is the spray touch up available yet. On white vehicles, I've spot sprayed, then blended with 1000 grit. Will that work with the metalflake and clear coat?

What color is your Titan?
As far as touch up doing it yourself with the bottle brush, you can use those techniques like shaking off the brush until there is very little paint left and just "blotting" the area softly until the metal is covered.

I would call a PDR guy in your area (Paintless Dent Repair), have the dent fixed, and just live with as good a touch up job as you can do.

If you want it perfect, you know you will have to get a good portion of that bedside painted and blended to match. Even then you will always know its there and see some sort of sign that the area was repainted.

It sounds pretty minor, but I don't have it in front me to look at like you do. Good luck!

PS.. those mobile touch-up guys that can do airbrushing can fill in the spot more flat, but you are looking at another $50-80 for someone to come out to your house just to air brush that one chip and then another %60-$80 for a dent guy to fix the ding in the metal.
