noise when in slip mode

Hello,
When in 2 wheel drive and the rear tires spin in snow. I hear a strange Squell/Cherp Noise. Before the SLIP light comes on. Is this common?
Thanks Rick :

Could it be your tires spinning for a second?

I had this come on once, the Brake SLIP mode kicks in, it applies the brake to the slipping wheel and then releases, its a Brake LSD, worked OK for me, I think if you pull the VDC off, then it will spin the tires.

The noise seems to be coming from front. It may be computer thing.

That sound is normal. The Active Brake Limited Slip is basically anit-lock brakes in reverse. The sound you hear is the braking system "pumping" the brakes on the tire that is spinning. You will hear a similar sound when the anti-lock brakes are engaged during a sudden stop.

Thanks for the replies.
I feel better now, knowing it's just the TITAN working!! and not the dealer
working on the Titan..

Yeap, got the same noise in 4 wheel drive when VDC kicked in while I was pulling a chevy truck and trailer out of a mudhole.

The ABS pump is on the driver side.has a bunch of metal like brakelines on it.......when my rear tires slipped and the light came on the front had a chatter.from the pump system.....it all worked fine for me...just a new mode to learn about.

heard it today for the first time too. Noisy, sounds like it comes from near the parking brake.

yes, like posted before, its working as designed. its funny i was waiting in the TITAN for my wife who was in a crap...uh... i mean craft store and was killing time by reading thru the owners manual and happen to read this exact info. weird. also, in contradiction to an earlier post you can NOT keep this from happening by turning off the VDC button. that will turn off the VDC but not the ABLS or the ABS. so you will still get the slip light if you go WOT and the tires start to spin.
