rear sonar problem!

i got in my truck this morning, put it in reverse and the sonar beepeing noise was steady not the beap on then off it was solid. i got out checked if anything was behind me and nothing was there. anyways it would not go off it does it everytime i put it in reverse. i eventually had to just turn it off.

has this happened to any of you guys?

Since I don't know where you live, what have the weather condition's been like there overnight? Warm/Cold.... Clear/Rainy/Snowy/REALLY snowy... etc. Have you run through any big puddles in the last few days? Did you try a wet cloth across the sensors ?

I don't have the sonar system, but I'm suspecting that something is blocking at least one of the sensors and/or at least one of the connectors for the sensors has some junk in it... wether it be water/salt/sand/slush residue, etc....

It may have some ice build up on the sensors. I'd just turn it off untill it warms up a little.

I've had that happen on the wifes Quest. It was a small wet leaf on one of the sensors. You probably had some dirt or a bit of ice on it. If not, have the dealer check it.

check to see that one of the sensors wasn't pushed into the bumper slightly. it must be flush or it'll sense the bumper as an object and beep.

That TSB is for the 2004 model, I have a 2005 and I have the same problem. once the temps droped below freezing the sonor sometimes (a few times it did not do it) would start a solid tone. I tried to locate the sensor control unit but could not find it in the place describe by the TSB. Has the control unit been moved to a new location on the 2005 Titans?

Thanks,
Matt

Why yes .... as a matter of fact it has ....

Section DI of the 2005 manual shows that it is on the back cabin wall ... drivers side ... behind the back seat ...

It also tells you how to put the sonar unit into "self-diagnostics" mode ... and how to read the beep fault codes ....

My '05 titan had that same sonar probolem today....for the record it was 19 degrees outside and there was some freezing rain last night. I know this sounds like a no brainer of a probolem of simply wiping off the sensors, but i swear the sensors were clean when i checked them and i wiped them off just in case and the probolem still continued. Later on that today it got to about 33 degrees and the solid beep went away. I will go to the dealership with this TSB info later. http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../NTB04-102.htm

Great.... so it's not just the back-up sensor... but it's also the 'time to wash the truck' sensor as well

I have noticed that on cold mornings, my aftermarket sonar will pick up the steam from the exhaust, causing to beep intermittently. I am unsure if the factory system will false like this, but it is something to keep in mind.
