Fixed Squeaky suspension: Replaced fake rubber boots with real ones!
After I discovered my Titan squeaked like crazy when I drove down the road when I had the back window down, I discovered the CHEAP imitation plastic boots over the Rancho shocks were rubbing against the shock itself causing the squeaking. I noticed the front shocks had the real rubber boots on them like they should, so I bought two new red rubber boots and replaced the two rear fake plastic boots. Took me about an hour to do, all in all, pretty easy to do. My suspension is now squeek free and looks a lot better too now that those cheap boots are off. Plus the rubber boots function a lot better. Why did Nissan put these fake plastic boots on in the first place??? The rubber boots cost me 5 bucks for both of them!

My guess is it wasn't Nissan's choice. I'm sure Nissan put a bid out for off road shocks and Rancho came in as the lowest bidder. To be the lowest bidder Rancho made the shocks for as little money as they could to maintain a preset profit margin.
I've heard that squeek getting in and out of the truck but never investigated it. I'll have to take a look. Good info...
Now that i think about it, the shocks in the FX4 package are "branded" rancho shocks (thats straight from the sales literature.). The real rancho shocks are really nice though. they make my old ford ride alot nicer. If and when i get the titan, that will be one of the 1st things i do, install real rancho schocks.

I also hate those fake looking BOOTIES, did you use the Rancho boots, and did the fit properly, if so what part numbers?
Thanks Ray

I used Rancho boots, they seemed to fit pretty well. I will check to see if I still have the packaging to the boots to get the P/N, but I think they are already in the dump.

Plastic boots verses rubber boots?????
I don't have any squeeks like that on my Titan....if replacing the plastic boots solved it I would think all of our plastic boots would be squeeking?????

Nothing wrong with the boots on my truck, it's just they look really cheap. Nobody see's them but me, it's just a personal preference thing.
