List of repairs for dealer

A couple of weeks ago, I told a friend of mine who also has a Titan and is also having problems with his brakes that instead of taking the truck into the dealer for each problem it had, I would wait for a few to mount up and get them all fixed at one time ibefore spring. Kindof a joke at the time but here is what I now have to be fixed.

1) Rear volume control, goes up to 8 and no louder
2) Passenger seat sounds like I and transporting stirafoam around if no one
is in it.
3) Brakes rotors are strarting to wobble, especially with trailer on.
4) Crack in overhead console from overtightened screw, had icicle's on dash
the other morning and water droplets falling from console.
5) Daskboard squeks constantly around instrument panel, try to wobble back and forth when it gets on my nerves enough, never helps.
6) Rearview thermometer is at best 4-5 degrees on the high side constantly.

Basically, I love the look, power, performance of the truck, however, the minor squeaks are really getting me down especially so early on in its life.

Anyone else thought of just waiting for a few more things to go wrong with the truck before they brought it in?

Tried that myself. I'd take it in for everything, as you begin to add up days towards lemon law.

I'm new to Titans, and I've seen you mention your console screw causing a leak a couple of times. How is this possible? There should be no water up there to leak!
Is it like a front screw that pulled the mount and let the windshield leak, or what?

I don't know where it is causing water to come in and I don't care. All I know is that it better get fixed. As far as living with the rattles, that's horsesh!t. None of my American made vehicles have squeked on any road and there is no excuse for a Japanese vehicle to squeak over every crack in the road that has 6k miles on it.

Good luck on the rattles. I as well have many and my dealer always says they will look at them...but alas I have most of the same rattles I started with at about mile 800. It will seriously make me think twice about buying another nissan, the interior quality of these trucks in no way adds up to what they are asking on the sticker.

Yeah, I'm making a list too. Probably will take it in this week for the seat belt recall. Also added to the list are:
1. Scratches on the steering wheel (around volume controls)
2. Creaky Drivers seat
3. Back of drivers seat keeps coming undone
4. Back of pass. seat plastic keeps falling off (since seat frame replacement)
5. Dash rattle by defrost vent (tried to fix myself but it's back!)
6. Check brakes (starting to shimmy again at 5K mi. and had TSB at 2K mi.)
That's about it for now, these are all minor problems (except brakes) IMO but they are problems non-the-less and should be addressed. My dealer has been great so far with repairs, hopefully it stays true. Although the rattles may not be taken care of...my truck seems to be a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, sometimes its super nice and quiet, and other times it feels like it's going to rattle to pieces...but that damn seat creaking is ALWAYS there! I wonder if the 05' seats are better constructed? Maybe I can swing some replacements????
brentsawyer, keep us posted and I update you as well! Good luck!

My defrost vent rattled also . I pulled it completely off, just snaps off, and put spots of silicone rubber all around edges avout one quarter inch high. After they cured, I snapped it back on. Rattle gone. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you.

My list ,only still have a couple of issues working at this time!
1. radio replaced- tsb
2. trim on d/door was loose -fixed
3. trim on rear door coming unglued-replaced
4. p/s window regulator broke-replaced (service writer told me he could get my window up at his next appointment 3 days later, rain forcast all weekend (had a change of heart after going to the service manager). Blocked window up until parts came in.
5. two dash rattles -fixed (one had to worked on twice)
6. Bed liner bubbled up in two places took about two and a half months with help from consumer affairs to get this fixed, not to mention paint match is off and another trip to dealer to have hard badging and 4 x4 decals put on the bed.
7. seat belt recall

a total of about 7 days at dealer, no brake problems yet build date 7/2004 more dealer days to come.

also needs the tsb on the noise from the evap canister( i think) left side that intermits

I used 1/4" foam weather stripping, it worked for a bit but...

Well, took mine in yesterday for seatbelt recall and also gave the service guy "the list" below.

1. Scratches on the steering wheel (around volume controls)
Ordered new cover
2. Creaky Drivers seat
Couldn't reproduce, I will be taking tech for a ride on the next visit!
3. Back of drivers seat keeps coming undone
Ordered new leather seat cover
4. Back of pass. Seat plastic keeps falling off (since seat frame replacement)
Ordered new back panel
5. Dash rattle by defrost vent
Couldn't reproduce
6. Check brakes (starting to shimmy again at 5K mi. and had TSB at 2K mi.) Service Bulletin Num : 04066
Going to do the TSB again but had to order brake pads
7. Faint ticking/knocking noise from engine compartment (can hear in the cab at idle and under acceleration) seems to be intermittent. Service Bulletin Number: 04124, or loose spark plugs, or exhaust leak.
Going to do the TSB, but had to order parts

So all I got done was the seatbelt recall.

I asked if he knew anything about the brake recall. He could not give me an answer but he figured there would be one coming out soon given the number of issues, but until then he can only do the TSB. We will see how it goes when the parts come in, should only be a week he said.
