Transmission not right?

When I'm driving my Titan I can't feel the transmission shifting but I do see the RPM's go down VERY little. Is this normal? Do you think this tsb will help me? http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../NTB04-131.htm because if you notice in this tsb it says "Determine if: Connector F9 has water or corrosion" well I did have that a/c problem where water leaked into the truck so maybe someone how water got on to this "Connector F9" and is not shifting my transmission right?

Can you be more specific? Do your RPMs drop more than once while accellerating from a stop to say 40mph? I mean, if your tranny doesn't shift, you'd be turning max RPM at 40, or more in first gear. What do you mean by "rpms drop a little"...

You might be seeing the torque converter locking up...slowly.
Torque converters can be locked up 100%, or very little, and everywere in between, and it seems the Titans PCM locks up the converter slowly.
I've driven & owned other trucks when in hi gear, the converter locks up all at once, it almost feels like a 6th gear.

Mine does this when giving it very little throttle. Don't be alarmed.

WTF? People need to relax a little. Seems like some people are just desperate to find something wrong with their vehicle!

My Transmission could have bad timing for all you know and there are people on this site that are more knowlegable on the Titan and based on the symptoms if this TSB would apply to me or not. It wouldn't hurt anything to investigate this. How would I know if it is normal or not? That's why I'm asking. For example:

Now I know this is normal and not a problem that could cost me thousands replacing a bad trans in the future.

I’m going to laugh at you when your truck stops working and a TSB was out to fix it and could have saved you thousands. Better to be safe than sorry. BTW, this site is for discussing the Titan, including potential problems and helping fellow Titan owners find problems and try to find fixes for problems they may have.

I think at times it can seem, like people are so afraid that what ever their truck is doing, that it's not doing it right, when it's just doing what it supposed to do, and those same people are reading a little to much "Doom & Gloom into it...

Yes. this is a great place to get answers, it's just real easy to get caught up with "oh my god, what's my truck doing now" syndrome.

Why are you lashing out on "the head". He gave you an answer to your question. I know you got a couple of unneeded responses, but "the heads" was not. He has no idea if you know anything about anything and is attempting to ease your concerns. If you don't like the answer disregard it without lashing out on those that are spending their free time trying to answer your questions.

May be use to a 4 speed transmission? Titan has a 5 speed and the gears are closer together.

Is it time for a "Transmission shifts too smooth!!!!!!1111 " Thread

There's nothing wrong with asking a question about the transmission. If you don't know something, you're supposed to ask. All of you guys and gals that think people are making too much of the Titan's issues need to get a grip. When you pay as much as we "ALL" did for this truck, you should be able to ask a simple question without getting a bunch of flack. And for those of you that have purchased a flawless vehicle, great for you, but there are many, too many, that haven't been as fortunate.

I agree with Garo1, My Titan CC get's terrible gas milage (12-13 hwy) and would like to know A/F Ratio readings from you guys that get good gas milelage as well as Stft and Ltft readings. I'm ASE Master certified and when I took my Nissan in, I was told nothing was wrong and I KNOW Bank 2 uses more fuel then Bank1 but did not get any attention.

If you understand what I'm asking for, maybe we can figure this out for the Dealer. I don't have any customers with Titans to compare and my friends Armada is just as bad and has the same OBD2 readings as mine.

BTW, read on here about rear axles being shipped low or not fluid in diff's.
Checked mine and it was over a pint low, so check yours. I think you'll get more info in here then anywhere.
Like the ride and the truck, but mileage stinks.
See YA

Please,
Don't highjack a man's thread. Not lecturing just reminding you.

On the transmission, I would say it is what someone else pointed out earlier, he's just not used to a 5 speed automatic transmission. It took me a while to get use to the shift points and how it handles the RPMs. I went from a 00 Nissan Maxima that had some gitty up and it didn't shift this smooth. Good question, got several answers, and nobody needed to get flamed and yet somehow somebody did...

Back to your question...everything sounds normal with your tranny. It shifts very smooth and with the ratios so close together you can hardly tell when they shift. I took my girlfriend's Dad for a ride (he owns and '03 Chevy 1500) and he was amazed at how smooth the tranny is. Enjoy it and don't worry everything is normal. I would only be concerned if your tranny shifted hard (not smooth) or held a gear too long before shifting.
