Capacitors

just wondering if anyone can give me advice on getting a good capacitor. what makes a difference besides the farad's... what is 16 volt rating 20 surge mean? thanks

I can tell you this, one Fared in a lot of capacitence. Capacitors (usually measured in Micro-Fareds) are sized for the electrical job requiered of them, you design a circut that requies "X" amount of capacitence, and that's what you use.
"16 volt rating, 20 surge" sounds like a component designed to normally take 16 volts, but can survive surges up to 20 volts...

No the real question....what the heck do you think you need a capacitor for?

I bought two Lighning Audio 1 farad capacitors and they were both defective. The first one had the on-board voltage display and it would not hold charge and the second one, w/o voltage display, arrived with a smashed mounting bracket.
