SWI2,
I dont have any info on the remote start but I do live in Mississippi and just wanted to give a shout out to you. I don't see many Mississippi folks on here. I live in Olive Branch, MS just at the TN / MS state line.

Just ringing in from Southaven. Mad Cow Dude, how's it goin'? I had a Viper alarm with remote in my Dodge. Auto Radio on Airways installed it and I was very happy with it. I do recommend Auto Radio, they also have warranty but are a bit more expensive then Circuit City.

Regards,

Pan Am Ken,

What's up dude. Glad to see that Im not the only Mississippian on here that drives a Titan. I have a Silver LE King Cab. I love the truck. I have had minor issues with remote windows but nothing I didn't have with any other vehicle I've owned.

I'm guessing by your name you work at the Pan Am flight school on T & B Blvd. My wife worked at Thomas and Betts for 6 years just across the street.

Give me a shout sometime so we can compare notes on the trucks.

I went to Auto Radio tonight and they will install a Python remote start unit for $349. They also said I'd need a power window module<$99> to get the windows to go up and down with the new keyfob. They also said that they would need to grind down the valet key and have that somewhere in the dash in order for the engine to start because of the transponders in the keys. That's almost $500 installed with tax. Seems quite high to me.

Think I'll drop by the Nissan dealer and see what they will charge for one. If they install it there won't be any issue with the warranty getting voided.

Mad Cow, you're absolutely correct about where I work. Good work, are you a detective or something? My truck is the Red Brawn LE parked in front of PanAm from 23:00-07:00.

That sounds way too high for a remote start. I would go to nissan and check the prices.
Pan AM Ken, Im no detective but I noticed the flight simulator in your picture and also your name being "Pan Am" Ken so I just put 2 and 2 together. Plus my wife worked at T & B for 6 years so I went by the building many times.
Are you a flight instructor? If so, I need you to hook me up so I can come play on that flight simulator in the picture!

Also, did you buy your truck at Landers Nissan in Southaven or in Memphis? I bought mine at Landers and the service has been horrible. I actually got into a heated argument with the parts manager there.

you really dont need to grind down anything, you just need to get a transponder.

I just picked up my Titan 2 days ago and asked the dealer before I left about getting the remote start installed through the dealer. They told me $400. Which is high. Better than paying $500 though. They gave me the story about voiding warranty by having it installed by a non-factory authorized installer. I called the person I used in the past and he says the Nissan dealers by him bring the cars to him to install it. The price was $250 due to chips in keys. Nice $150 mark-up for doing nothing. I am in New Jersey, but prices shouldn't be too different. Eddie

Mad Cow Dude: I'm not an instructor, but rather a flight simulator engineer. I did buy my Titan from Landers Nissan in Southaven. You are right about the parts guy being a bit of a stool sample. But I have had only good experiences in the service department. The service guy there now used to work at Landers Dodge and I had a run in with him when they tried to install non platinum plugs and bill me for platinum in my Durango. I almost ripped his head off when I found out they were ripping me off. They did make good with the correct plugs and many apologies. It wasn't intentional, just a part number mixup.

Now when he sees me coming there is a bit of fear in his eyes. Whatever works right? I have them do my oil changes every 3 months. They do the oil and filter for $19.99. The only problem I've ever had with the truck was my NAV system kept coming up "Disk Error". They installed a new NAV DVD player and it has been working flawlessly since then.

I could get you in the simulator perhaps some evening after training is finished for the day. 18 million dollar video games and we have 3 of them. A Caravan 208, B727-200, and DC10. The Caravan is the newest and even has a daytime visual system.

Regards,

Hey PanAm Ken: I think I know the guy you are talking about that switched from Dodge Landers to Nissan Landers. I've had a run in with him as well. I had a 03 Dodge Ram and took it to Landers Dodge because of a warped rim and this guy told me that warranty would not cover a warped rim. I nearly exploded on him and told him to get the General Manager of the dealership out so I could speak with him. He finally agreed to take the truck back and see if they could do anything to it. While they had it in the back, I walked next door to Landers Nissan and test drove a Titan and was so impressed that I bought it. As I was being introduced to the Nissan service team the dude from Dodge came over and said "didn't I just see you at the Dodge service Department?" I said yes and told him that was why I was standing in the Nissan Service. He said well I am switching to the Nissan Service Department. I told my sales rep this could be a deal buster and told him what happened with the service rep. I was so impressed by the truck that I couldn't let that idiot make me mad enough to not buy it.

I was kidding about playing on the simulator but if it doesn't get you in trouble I would love to come out and play around with 18 million dollar games.
