correct idle rpms

do any of you out there in titan land know what the correct (read:what the factory setting/best for gas mileage is) idling rpms should be? when my truck is in park it seems to idle around 1000-1200 and when it has a load (at a stop light in drive with the brake on) it runs a little under 1000. the reason i ask is it seems like its idling a little 'hot'. so i don't know if a 'hot' idle could be a sign of something that needs to be adjusted that may also help with gas mileage. thanks

Yes that’s high, don’t know off hand but a sticker under the hood should tell correct warm idle.

Correct idle speed (with engine warmed up) is 650 RPM +- 50 RPM.

can you adjust it yourself or is it a dealer issue? technically if nothing needs to be adjusted, how long before the idle should drop to 650-700?

Take it to the dealer; there may be other issues involved. The lenght of time it takes to drop to 650 depends on several factors - outside temp, load on engine, etc. But it should drop to the proper RPM quickly if warm; it may take 5-10 minutes if it is cold.

Is this in gear or park? Seems like that would be in gear (drive).

if it is running 'hot' does that affect gas mileage when you are driving or is it just during idle? (ie. does high idle indicate something that will affect other gas mileage issues?)
