Question Extended Warranty - Yes or No

Did you purchase an extended warranty when you bought your Titan?

I'm looking at the Nissan Gold Preferred Coverage (not looking for prices, just yes or no if you purchased it or not)....

I picked up the 6yr 75,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on my Titan. It's not that I expect to have any major issues after factory warranty is up, but it is nice to have the protection and it is a Freshmen entry into a new vehicle market.

So, if a problem arises, it is not any additional out of pocket out of warranty cost to me...

Tom,
I know the sales, finance, & service manager at my Nissan dealer. They came up with a coupon that saved me like 300-400 bucks on the warranty. I paid like $950 bucks for that 6 yr warranty that goes bumper to bumper for 75k. It was not a direct Nissan extended warranty. They have a 3rd party warranty company that didn't differentiate the Titan from the Maxima on extended warranty according to vehicle class coverage. (Might have BS'd me on that, but I was out the door for $1000 less than invoice on the truck w/ the warranty) after my VPP and being upside down $2000 on my 00 Maxima I traded in on it. If you hammer on them enough about that warranty option, they'll come up with a coupon or something to discount the warranty.

Good Luck!!

The warranty just extends factory coverage and provides bumper to bumper outside of 3yr 36k. The 1 year to activate I don't think I have to worry about since I added the option it picks up where the factory warranty leaves off. I would imagine if you didn't add the option at the time of purchase there probably exists some kind of window or grace period to add the extended coverage. You might want to give your dealer a phone call.

paid 2k for 100k full w/no deductible .. plan to just keep 2yrs, and check I get for cancelling it will ease the deal on the next truck - but if life throws a curve, I'm not sinking needed cash into repair.

IMO?...It's a waste of money. 13 Nissans later and I've never had any problems. You're already covered for 5/60k on the important stuff and anything problematic will show up before then so, if you're one who doesn't keep a vehicle much past that, you're throwing money away.
But if you're someone who needs that security blanket, it may be good for you.

That's why I am asking - just wanted to see what most others did. I can't make up my mind. 5/60 is much better than most of the rest. I am going with an 05 model anyway and think most of the bugs are gone......

I talked to my bank regarding extended warranty on my Titan. They said that I don't have to get it now. They recommended me to wait until the manufacture warranty "almost" out (3yrs/36k miles) then buy extended warranty because if if buy extended warranty now, you will have double coverage for your truck. It makes no sense. Is it true?

Correct me if im wrong, but I thought you had up to 12 Months or 12,000 miles to extend your warranty after purchase.

you don't have to 'buy-it-now but there is a $75 charge added over 12k miles when you buy one. We bought one for both the '04 when we had it and also the '05. Both times through new-nissans.com. Went 60/100 on both...first time $50 ded second time $0 deductable.
