After rotor replacement now vibrations

I get vibrations now above 60 mph. I took it as far as 90 and still continue. I never had them before the rotor replacement. The steering wheel is now shaking. I am so pissed off. It seems everytime I take it in they fuc something else up.

Any ideas what this could be?

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem but you probably should check the torque on all your lug nuts. I wouldn't trust others to be exact about that when they removed and replaced your wheels.

My .02 is this:

Pads were not replaced and have a warped shape to them. Need to have them replaced as well.

The other thought on this is possible a balance and rotation on your tires. When I had new rotors get put on two vehicles, I have had to get the tires rebalanced to eliminate all vibrations. Seems odd, but I did it on a grand prix and on my Maxima.

It could be something else entirely but that is my instinctive response for what your problem is. Good luck!

Actually, the lug nut idea is probably it. I bet in balancing the tires they just didn't have the lug nut torque even on each one of the nuts and all 4 tires.

This would be my guess too. When they removed your wheels they may have knocked off one of the weights. Not sure how they are attached but if they are just clamped onto the rims this could easily be your problem.

That was it. They balanced the front tires, and the truck has never been even this smooth! It's perfect!

I long for the day when a dealer might use some forward thinking and actually anticipate a requirement before it is identified by the consumer requiring yet another time wasting trip.

1st Titan, I talked to my service manager today about the main Titan issues I've read here. He said Nissan made the dealership buy a $8000 brake lathe just because of these problems. He also has a different brake pad that nissan has changed to to help prevent the jitters that people call warping. It's acutally bad pad material build up in the metel of the disk. turning them gets rid of the bad layer and gives the new pad a good disk to work with. Make SURE they give you the newer disk pads and if they don't want to admit to it have the let you talk to a reginal customer service rep...he'll know about it I bet!

They already gave me the new pads the first time I went in for the brakes. Just the rotors they didn't replace.

I just had the brakes done last week, the pads definitely look bigger than the originals. They didn't even drive my truck to see the brake judder first hand. The dealers definitely know there is a problem.

It's truly amazing how many different stories these dealers tell us regarding this well-known brake issue. Here's my story: Taking mine in for brake tsb in 2 weeks. Service writer ordered new rotors and new pads.....both of which are supposedly a new design. I told him I was taking my truck to a different dealer unless they replaced the rotors, instead of just turning them. His response was basically that replacing the rotors and pads is the only option, because you'll just be back in another 3000 miles or so, which of course was my thought too. Made my mind up in a hurry as to which dealer will be allowed to service my Titan. Stick by your guns and insist on new rotors!

Hey TX, did the dealer mention whether or not your new rotors are a new design?? Glad the re-balancing took care of your vibration issue.

They didn't mention about a new design. So I am not sure on that.
