Deer 1 Titan 0

I hit a deer on Christmas Eve-morning, 5:45 A.M.. It happened so fast I just barely had time to hit the brakes and swerve right. All of the damage is left of center, and low. What a mess! $3,450! The air bag didn't deploy, thank goodness, I'm sure I'd have run off the road, and probably rolled it. The hood and radiator weren't touched. I drove home on one headlight, no problem.

While having the repair work done I've decided to replace the factory bumper assembly with a Wincher bumper from Kennesaw Mountain Accessories.
www.kenmtn.com. It should be about a break-even proposition, and I'll have a tougher bumper with winch capability.

That's a heck of a way to hunt deer...LOL

Seriously though, glad your OK and that the truck is getting a new and stronger bumper for you. How long is it going to take them to get you 'fixed'? Any estimate?

Deer get really big the closer you get to them.
Living out in the country I worry about hitting a deer every night I get in the truck. In a smaller vehicle they can take your life.Glad your O.K.,stay safe over the New Year.

How fast were you going? Just wanted to know what speed = to that amount of damage. I live on a military base and we have deers running all over the place even in the neighbor-hoods. The speed limit is only 35MPH, hope I never encounter one of them

Thumbs up Check out the deer whistlers!!

I had the deer whisltlers on my last truck......anyone using them????? They are cheap...5-$20 and I heard some insurance companies discount your policy for them but I don't know. Saw about 10 deer at the bottom of my hill two nights ago. But nothing compares to the bear I caught that broke into my cabin one day..what a story that is!!
Glad you are OK......and check out the whistlers too!!

I was doing 55. The speed limit is 65. This deer was running flat-out, and stretched-out before she hit the road. No
deer whistlers, but if they work I doubt it would matter as she was coming up a hill at the edge of the road.
The OEM bumper surprised me at how well it all stayed together. Not so all of the plastic in front of and behind it.

I still drive it 'til it's repaired. Not at night, and I give hand signals for left turns. FUN!

Man that really sux, sorry about your truck but glad your ok.
Tom I read a report about the deer whistlers and they didn't speak very positivly about them, can't remember where I read it at now, but I guess anything is better than nothing.
Reloader22 ya might want to switch to Reloader19 I get a bit more accuracy out of it in my TITAN. LOL.

So the million dollar question is, "Are you having venison for your New Year's dinner?"

Geez. You guys are scaring me, deer, owls, all sorts of critters being hit. I hit a grouse with my first Titan, did a number on it too, busted fog light, cracked bumper. I told hubby that I'll probably hit a moose with the new Titan, have come painfully close. He just say "oh you want to one up the guys on the board eh?"

Do a search. Deer Whistles don't do anything. Deer don't even have hearing up in the frequencies that a deer whistle works. They're pretty much a gimmick.

I've done a lot of research on this years ago as where I work there are many deer out in the country. In fact every few years, they have to thin them out with bow hunting, because they starve out. I haven't seen any conclusive reports stating that whistles will work. However I read many conclusive reports saying that they will NOT work.

Have a good one and use your brights to see the 'yellow' of their eyes.
