Insurance woes

Backed up into a Honda Accord a few days ago. Making a left, trying to get into the median, on a six land boulevard, I creeped into the first lane. But a car in that lane was moving faster than I thought so I had to back up.

Had three people in the back seat. Checked my rear view, didn't see anybody behind, and put the Titan in reverse. <HONK!><CRASH!>

The Titan really did a number on that Accord, even at only ~5 MPH. The hood was all curled up. There was just a minor dent in the Titan's bumper.

$500 estimate to replace the bumper, and my deductable? $500.

Oh that s@cks. I know it expensive, but you might want to consider dropping that deductable. I have also had some close calls while lane changing...sometimes real hard to see out the windows considering how high it sits..

Thats why its against the law to backup or roadways like that. Go to the next place to turn. It costs a few cents in gas vs $500.

Look around for an aftermarket bumper if you're interested in a replacement, or see if there's a way to fix the current bumper at least to the extent that it's not an eyesore to you.

While it's obviously your fault for backing up on a roadway, these people today just piss me off. They get right behind you and then they creap up and ride your bumper. Then, of course, they are completely invisible.

When I drove a class 7 truck this didn't bother me as if something happened, it was their fault for following to close and it "wasn't my truck". Really the worse thing that would happen is that they go under the trailer/truck or hit the heavy duty bar steal bumper. Neither would hurt those big rigs.

Have a good one.

I beg to differ with you. I drive a big truck and regardless of what happens, the "truck" is guilty until proven innocent. that sucks

That sucks! I feel for ya, I had a similar thing happen to me also. This might be reason enough to consider getting the rear sonar installed...
