Yes, Seafoam is great also, but the only treatment they make that I'm aware of is the engine treatment/cleaner which you have to slowly feed thru a manifold vacuum line for port injection engines like ours. Cleans all top engine components, injectors, comb chambers, valves, etc. I believe this is called "fogging" your engine. Did this on my Tundra with the GM top engine cleaner, which I believe is similar to the Seafoam. Just don't do it at your house.......your neighbors will probably call the fire dept!! I did it in a remote part of a huge mall parking lot and got security called on me!! Never seen so much smoke out of an exhaust in my life. Lied and said I was having engine trouble. Took a long time for exhaust to clear up, but really does a great job. Since it releases lots of carbon deposits, you should definately do an oil change soon after.
For tank additive cleaners, though, I still think BG44K is the best for preventive maintenance to keep injectors clean and carbon at a minimum. The Toyota dealerships use BG tranny and rear differential additives, as well as BG44K at certain maint intervals, for the Tundra anyway.

I believe the owners manual advices against it, it been a while since I looked at that section. Best advice, look in the owners manual deside for yourself.
And BTW don't use Seafoam, owners are complaining of seaweed stopping up fuel injectors, j/k heheheheh

I have never used Seafoam, but I have heard it works well. The only problem I can't see how it cleans the injectors if it is fed into a vacuum hose.
I think you add a small amount to the tank and feed the rest thru vacuum line for the Seafoam. Not sure about the GM top eng cleaner, but I think it's mainly for top engine deposits.

When you feed it thorugh the vacuum hoses it goes directly to the combustion chamber, via the intake manifold. In order to clean your injectors, you need an additive that is added to your gas tank, or injected directly into your fuel rails.
My vote for an effective and very popular cleaner is F/P or Fuel Power from www.lubecontrol.com
My owners manual advises against using fuel injector cleaner...... but I was at the dealership with my wife's Altima ( bad strut) and guess what's sitting in the display counter, Nissan branded fuel injector cleaner........... things that make you go hummmm. BTW same shaped bottles as the Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner.

You don't have to use it at all. Gasoline already has detergents in it to help keep your fuel system clean. If you want to keep your mind at ease, fill up with premium fuel once a month or so... but that is not necessary. Additives are a last resort solution to some kind of problem you may be having.
Most all owner manuals do not reccomend cleaners. Federal law requires a certain amount of cleaners be added to all gasolines. The required amount is minimal but the better companies like Chevron, Texaco and Shell add more cleaners than is required. Chevron has qualified for a new European and Asian requirement for even cleaner gasolines . Some foreign cars require the use of those fuels. I have used additional cleaners for the last 20 years with no problems. If you are using the minimal dealers like Wal Mart and such, a bottle every two or three tanks is good. To each his own , but I have been using a bottle every three tanks in my Titan and have 11,000 miles now. I will continue to do so. My 02 Frontier was done the same way. These cleaners help to stop the clogging. I do not want to wait for the clogging then try to remove it.

NISSAN does not recommend the use of any
aftermarket fuel additives (for example, fuel injector
cleaner, octane booster, intake valve deposit
removers, etc.) which are sold commercially.
Many of these additives intended for gum, varnish
or deposit removal may contain active solvents or
similar ingredients that can be harmful to the fuel
system and engine.

That's what my owners manual says too, but when at Nissan last week they have it for sale at the counter. Same bottle as chevron techron fuel injector cleaner, heck of a double standard huh? (sold under the nissan brand name)

My 04 Titan did not recomend synthetic oil in my differential either. Now they do. I wonder if we cannot use Chevron gasolines in our trucks. Their gas has the same stuff that is in the bottles we buy. I think Nissan needs to explain a little better.

I thought all gas now have detergents in them to clean the injectors? I know Quick Trip does. I also know that I drove over 104,000 miles in my 02 Frontier and never used any injector cleaner and I never saw a decrease in gas mileage.
Like everything else gasoline has changed.
There are mechanic shops who make a good living cleaning dirty injectors. I do not know why some injectors get clogged up and some don't. I personally believe all gasoline is not the same as far as additives is concerned. Some of us who use cleaners swear by them because we have never had any problems in over 200,000 miles of driving. Again, some who do not use cleaners sometimes have the same good results. I guess thats why they call it choice. Squid, you are right, all gasolines have some cleaners in them. Most only put the amount that federal standards require of them. Some, like Chevron and others, put more and some patented mixtures which supposedly do a better job of keeping your fuel system clean. It is like buying insurance and never having a wreck, you could have saved some money if you would have known.
