Just had my Titan in the ice and snow. The VDC ROCKS!

I can't believe how stable the Titan is on ice/snow. You almost can't upset it. The VDC is just cool. To accelerate on ice - just hit the gas. To turn, just turn. To stop, just stop. No drama, no weirdness, no twitchy rearend, just control. In fact, the biggest problem I see with it is that inexperienced drivers could get overconfident.

That's awesome, I noticed you had the BT and OR pakage. You have VDC instead of E-Lock? The reason I ask I wasn't aware VDC was an option for BT and OR. Just the E-Lock...

Happy New Year HS

I had mine on it this morning early, we had freezing rain. I had two minor incidents with my truck with vdc.
First I was stopped at a hill and was doing fine then I went to leave slowly and got stuck, had to use 4x4 to get going. Yes I barely gave it gas, I had to sit through another red light.
Second I was turning off one road to another and it wouldn't turn. I was sliding towards a curb, so I let off the brakes, straightened the wheels as fast as I could and went up and over the curb into someones yard. I am hoping that I haven't done any damage to it. It feels solid still and seems that my alignment is okay, wheel is still straight and it isnt pulling any more than it was.
So I only would feel the abs kikcing in when the wheels are straight, and the vdc would only assist the other day in the snow. It doesnt seem for me to be very effective so far on ice.

Finnatic there was a weird option Package early year production that if they Ordered the OFF ROAD package on a 4 Wheel drive but Ordered it under the Off ROad 2 Wheel Drive coad you got VDC and not ELOCK. Also was like $250 Cheaper. Dealer order alot like that becasue it kept his Sticker price lower by $250. If you have noticed now that Nissan has dropped off road package on the 2WD. Was weird deal when I was researching online I couldnt even build a truck like I own. Couldnt get the same options listed the way they are on my invoice. Ny truck is a 4WD off road big tow and on my window sticker it actually list the OFFROAD option with (2wd) behind it.

Finn - when I got my Titan, there was no e locker option.

Hughley - the VDC can only do so much - I mean if there's nothing for the ABS and VDC to grab, there's nothing that can be done.

Hope your Titan is ok. I'd be more worried about the tires than the suspension. I bashed my Titan over some good offroad stuff this fall, and did nothing to the alignment. Curbs and tires are another matter. Watch for bubbles in the sidewalls, or weird vibrations that might signal a broken steel belt.

VDC...Fun killer!

I was driving in the snow a couple of weeks ago on a remote road at night. I came to a turn and since nobody was around I wanted to fishtail the Titan just for fun. But the VDC kicked in and would not let me do it! I was really impressed because after all those summer and fall months of driving I forgot about it. So if I want to 'play' in the snow, I have to remember to turn OFF the VDC.

Thanks SAWEETTITAN and HS, now that you've described that I remember reading about that... I went to Nissan's site and noticed you can't get VDC with OR. From what I've read about VDC I would rather have it than E-Lock as I would rarely use it as opposed to using VDC.

Maybe it will be offered in the future.

Thanks again,

Mike

no vehicle is effective on ice unless you have spikes (which are illegal in most areas)

I wish, now I'd done more research on some of the options offered with BT, like VDC. If I could do it over, I'd def spend the extra $$ for BT. I wonder what dealer would charge to install VDC on my XE?? Has anyone had this done? They prob want a freakin fortune!

ansaremd,
Studs (spikes) are legal here in Washington state during the winter months. My wife has them on her Sentra and they work great.
But I don't even want to think about what a set of 18 inch studded tires and wheels would cost for the Titan!

I figured the tires would be okay, due to everything being covered in ice... i barely even felt the curb due to the ice.
I thought with the abls and vdc there was more traction control, but I have to say that I am very impressed with this truck. It is just great, period!!!

It would be nice if those with OR could add on as well providing the $$$ was reasonable...but we already know what that deal would probably be... $$$$

I had the same experience in a couple of inches of snow last week. Could hardly make it spin or or fishtail with the VDC on. This was the first snow of the year, so I was a little misled how slippery driving on it can be because of the surefootedness the VDC offers. Turned it off and was reminded real quick though. Amazing technology.
