I had good mpg while traveling. The middle tanks of gas were mostly city driving excelp for the trip though the mountains to Talf, Ca. The Calif gas did not seem to be a problem with mileage either.

JEZZZ You must cruse nice and easy. Or you got one of those Perfect setup engines that happens once in a lifetime.

I just drove from S.E. Alabama to Las Vegas, NV over the last 3 days and I averaged 16.6 for the whole trip. I only got one ticket (TX) and a warning (Lousianna) and I kept the cruse on 70 to 80 the whole time. I bought gas from 86 to 89 oct. Gas sucks out west. Less octain and higher prices and I get less milage on it.
Enjoy that performance.

Nice drag bike too.

I use cruise control on the highway, and I set it at 5 mph over the posted speed limit, so I was at 75 or 80 all the way.
I had the truck loaded down with presents for my grankids, my wife and my dog. The bed was packed. I guess around 500 lbs in the bed. About half of that on the trip home.

Beat the storm now whacking the West back from a quail hunting trip to AZ, and got 16.8, 17.0, and 17.2 on three tanks of that crappy western fuel(85 octane) at 80 mph(5 over the limit) between Wyoming and Flagstaff. As was discussed a long time ago on this forum, my odometer only reads 95 miles in 100, so I have to factor that into every mileage calculation.
I then went to Sacramento to pick up a lightweight travel trailer, 3300 pounds dry, and continued the good mileage, 16.9 to 17.0 at 80 mph and 17.8 at 70 mph through AZ and CA. Once the trailer was attached, I got 8.5 to 10.5 mpg, depending on how much I was climbing, from Reno to Cheyenne(to avoid CA sales tax I had to have the trailer delivered to Reno). The lowest mileage was towing through several mountain passes.
I averaged 10 mpg towing a 4800 pound travel trailer or a horse trailer with a Ford diesel I owned before the Nissan. I got 15-16 mpg at 80 mph and 18 mpg at 70 mph with the diesel, and 12-13 mpg running around town or back roads hunting. I get 12.5-14 mpg around town or hunting withthe Nissan, and my back feels a lot better. I don't know anyone with a Ford V10 that gets more than 12 mpg on the highway, and those I know get from 8 to 10 mpg towing a variety of trailers.
I have no complaints about mileage or towing, as I can climb mountain passes at 55-60 mph with either a loaded horse trailer or a travel trailer.
