Stoked...now I need a toolbox

I bought my Titan over the holidays, and I am so stoked. I am sure I will be visiting frequently. Now I am trying to find a toolbox. I am looking for a black diamond plate toolbox that is flush or below surface of bed rails, fits entire width of bed, and I would like to be able to open from each side. Do they make such?

Congrats!

That's a great question. If they made one that would use the rails that would slide out easily, I'd be interested. I haven't seen one like that or one below the rails.

Nissan makes one that uses the utility rails and does slide in and out, but it sticks above the bed rails

I have a low profile box made by UWS. It is hardly noticeable from any angle looking at the truck and doesn't block my vision looking in my rear view mirror.

The Nissan tool box that uses the utilitrack isn't all that noticeable as alot of the aftermarket boxes are. I saw one installed on a Titan at the dealership and it set me on wanting one, since I was anti due to 99% of them being over the rail and back window view blocking

Slidding Tool Box

My company bought several OEM tool boxes for our company ordered trucks, but they bought Fords instead. We have the OEM Nissan Slidding Tool Boxes just sitting in or warehouse in the boxes. I know it's a stretch, but if any of you that want one, that may live close to the South, or have connections in the shipping world, the're for sale. We paid just over $500.00 each, and are located in Dothan, Alabama. We'd sacrafice $300.00 each, which is a bargain for this box. Nissan designed this box to allow equal storage as aftermarket models, but allow you to slide 6" of cargo underneath the box and still slide it to the tailgate for easy access.

pix of those boxes?

Titan Fever,

Would you happen to have a pix or two of those boxes? I've also started looking for an acceptable box for my rig.

Thx,

Jack

I finally found a toolchest - Husky, I think.

Fits beneath the utilitracks nicely. It's 58" wide - the bed will easily take a 60" wide chest, but I have a canopy & the mounting tabs stick out a bit further.

I can take pics if anyone is interested.

mceTX,

I've bought many different tool boxes (diff. brands) for work trucks. I have never seen one like the one you want, not to say they don't make them. Just I have never seen one. The ones that we bought, take up the bed width and are flush, but don't open from both sides. Just one lid that opens straight up the width of the box.

Good luck in finding one

ICE17N.....I agree with you about finding one that opens from side....the more I think about it....it may not be a good idea with two opening side doors since it will limit what you put in the box (versus one big single door)

I may go with this one...see photo 5

That's a nice looking box. I think you would be hard pressed to find one that sits flush and opens from both sides, because all the ones I've ever seen that open from the sides have the handles mounted on the side along with the lock. All of those were over the rails. I would never buy an over the rail box (for my personal truck). We bought some for work and do alot of off roading. Everyone that we bought started cracking the bed where it was attached (BIG CRACKS, 5" or so ). So, you already got that one right in my book . You're right that it will limit what you put in the box. Bigger items are hard to get in and out of the double door box (because of the center section.) Whereas the big single lid box it's pretty easy to put in and take out larger items. The #5 pic of the black diamond plate is sweet. If it was me, I'd go with that one if the $$$ were right.

GOOD LUCK, tell us which one you get and attach pics.

I was wrong about my toolchest's brand - it's "Better Built" brand.

57" wide at the lid lip, offset hinged lid - the back fits under the utilitrack on the front of the bed, the lid sits just about even with the track. 19" tall.

I shopped quite a few places online, couldn't find one less than 60" wide and more than 48" wide. I ended up walking into a local 4x4 shop (as a last resort) and they had this one sitting on the shelf.

I took pics, but it looks like my website is down for some reason... I'll post pics later.
