New Accessories on Vehicles

The new Tacoma has a built in AC outlet in the bed, the Ford Super Duty has a built in brake controller, and the Pontiac G6 has a built in remote start. These things are difficult and/or expensive for owners to add themselves and it would be nice if the '06 Titan included these as options.

If these items can't be added as options, it would be nice if the Titan was prewired for these accessories like it is for the fog lights.

Uh, am I the only one that got a power outlet in the bed of their Titan? I know it is a DC connection, but I have a power inverter that works nicely for it. Wasn't sure if you meant power outlet in general or AC specifically.

They're good for plugging circular saws, drills, and other power tools into if you are a hunter, farmer, or rancher. If you are a hunter you can use these tools to build blinds or deer stands out in the woods. If you are a farmer or a rancher power tools can be very useful working on barns and fence lines that are far away from any outlet. They are also good for camping, tailgating and plugging in emergency lighting.

BTW, I saw a 1200 watt power inverter in a Pep Boys add in the paper this past Sunday for around $79.00. Usually a 700 watt inverter sells for this price.

Electric pump for air mattress comes to mind for that bed tent.

I would like a bedside lockbox on the passenger side to match the one I have on the driver's side. I like it so much it is full and I have more stuff I want to stuff in it!

Current contents:
1 - Receiver hitch
4 - Utilitrack cleats
1 - Jumper cables
1 - 20 ft length nylon rope
1 - container assorted bungies
1 - net for bed tray
2 - Utilitrack stop blocks

Needed:
wrenches
pliers
screwdrivers
Chock blocks
other emergency roadside tools
etc...

I think Ford hit the nail on the head with the built in brake controller. It should be included on all Titans with the big tow pkg.

I think Nissan has not put one on the passenger side due to the muffler/exhaust system location. Something probably to do with heat shielding the lockbox IMO.

I totally agree tnbowhunter. Nissan did good by making it easy just to plug in a brake controller into the electrical system; they didn't do so good in designing a place to put it. If they didn't want to offer a brake controller as an option they should at least designed the dash with a knock out plug or a flat piece of metal under it to mount it on. I really don't want my brake controller mounted at my knees or at an angle where it looks like it's an add on.

BAM!

I have a 99 Tacoma, and the reason I'm not driving an 05 Double Cab is because it cost 2 grand more than I wound up paying for my CC Titan. The Titan MSRP was a little more, but the Toyota dealer wasn't willing to negotiate.
