I noticed this loose switch issue on a truck I test drove, and I accidentally hit the switch 3 times during my test drive. On the other hand, I have never done this on my truck.
That said, you have a defective switch, get it replaced under warranty.

Correct. The switch on my truck is 'normal', but the switch on the truck I test drove was very loose. Check the operation on an '05, and you will probably notice quite a difference.

If there is no TSB and it has a minor limp hold to it..do you think it is under warranty???? Tell you the truth the o-ring works like a champ......someone else here should try it and report in!!!lol I will check some 05's next week for this and other charachteristics.....already planned..thanks..Peace-Tom Bass Ale
I happened to do this one night when meeting another car on a two lane road. Instead of taking my left hand off the steering wheel, I just reached out with my middle finger to pull the lever. Damned if I didn't turn off the lights instead.
When I tried duplicating what happened, I discovered that what I must have done was to pull on the end of the lever near the top, which rotated the light switch to the off position. This won't happen when I pull it with my finger in the very center, or below the center line of the lever.
It apparently takes less force to rotate the light switch than it does to flick the lever for high/low beam.
I usually dont have to use the high beams that often. those darn things are really bright. seems like i alwyas get behind a little car and my lights shine directly in ther rear view mirror. you can see heads turning and hands in front of their mirror, maybe i could adjust them down a little because they are a little high.

you guys have this problem.
I drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway last night..twisting and turning and high/low beams and other vehicles constantly....guess what???? Never turned the lights off once by accident....so it works very well for me. I will ask the dealer to check my switch out to make sure but the o-ring stays on for now!
I owe someone here a Bass Ale Thanks Tom

I haven't had this problem yet. Is it the switch that's defective or is it just being aware?

I have a 2004 build date of feb04. I cant think of a single time that I have turned my lights off while switching them from lo to high beam. It may be my fat fingers.
It's the switch. I had mine replaced by the dealer. It's better than the original but still can happen. I since have installed a DRL system that switches my lights grom 75% daytime to 100% at dusk and thus basically eliminated the use of the factory switch. It still operates but I don't need it.
The service manager and I went out on the lot and tried all the Titans and all would go off too easy. Then we tried the Altima with the same switch and you can't make it happen.
I reported it to the OSD several months ago and so far I'm the only complaint so nothing has been investigated.
I feel this is a dangerous safety defect and everyone should report it to both the OSD and Nissan.
It should take more force to rotate the switch barrel , the foglight switch is hard to find without turning off your headlights, the headlights shouldn't be on the stalk that is constanly used in driving-move it to the other side, and please put an indicator light on the instrument panel to tell me when the foglights are on!!!
