Titan Mods: Best Bang for Buck???

Just purchased an 04 LE KC a week ago, and like it more every day. My last truck was an 01 Tundra AC SR5 and there is no comparison!

I wanted to get some opinions on what you think is the best modification you have done to your Titan for the money.

For example on the Tundra, most owners will agree that the Hellwig rear sway bar was one of the best at $100.00. On the other hand, one of the worst mods was adding the K&N cold air induction system and it cost $250.00. Another complete waste of $ was the TRD dual exhaust cat back conversion at $500.00

Enough on the Tundra - these were only examples!

I would like to thank the founder of this site and the moderators for providing such an outstanding source for info and feedback! Good Job!!!

JetTech's Suspension Improvement

Thanks Firecracker - after reading the 15 pages of posts for this $22.00 suspenison mod - I'm going out today to put on a set of these helper Springs.
30 minutes of labor and $22.00 - can't beat that! Thanks again!

The PreRunner "leveling" kit is very good expenditure.

Volant intake with Banks exhaust seems to be (arguably) the best off-the-shelf intake/exhaust combo, yielding strong gains. Several users have Dyno'd great numbers with the combo.

If you like a smooth ride however, you won't like them after a while. It makes the tail of the truck a bit more rough. I wanted a smoother ride so I removed mine.

Remember, we are not really using it as a spring helper, we are using it as a trac bar so the heavy duty one may not be the one you want. Installation for our purposes is in front of the axle not behind like according to the instructions. But hey, it may work and even better then the smaller version.

Let us know how it turns out.

Gagnon Motorsports Leveling Lift

Hey Mike H,
I haven't tried it yet, but that kit by Performancelifts.com sure gets some good reviews - seems reasonable at $200.00. I'm pretty satisfied with the stock ride, but don't like the extreme nose down appearance. How does the Gagnon lift affect the handling/cornering? Anyone had any experiences lowering the rear end to level the Titan out?

It really depends on what you are going to do with it!!! Some on this forum go the CAI and cat-back route, IMHO save your money, they simply DONT WORK!!!!!!( Anyone that has one will argue with me because after spending a weeks pay and getting NOTHING other than lots of intake and exhaust NOISE wont admit it!!!) A computer Mod would make more sense to me, But just remember, Fuel mileage WILL SUFFER!!!!! If you NEED to make a change, change the wheels, or for cheap, how about a grill insert???

I agree, and if you look at my original post, I went the K&N, cat back dual exhaust experiment on my Tundra - went back to stock for better sound and MPG within 3 months! The cold air intake system was downright false advertising.

What I was asking for here was reasonable cost mods that will improve ride, handling, mpg, audio, more than cosmetic changes.

Real Gains

My dyno showed a gain of 14.375 rear wheel HP and 41.155 rear wheel Torque adding a Volant CAI to a Gibson Extreme Dual Exhaust.

Even Better Volant Dyno Results

OH!!!!, Mine is stock, so I dont really know whats out there other than PRE-RUNNEG GREGS front lift kit. It looks very well done to me!!!! I just prefer the look of a Lower Truck! Me LE-KC is my work truck and has 500-800Lbs. in it all of the time. So its almost level already!!!!! Sure wish some one would come up with a NICE rear anti roll (sway bar) kit!!!!! I would get it in a Heartbeat!!!!!!

That's funny ....

Before Finnattic posted his dyno results ... you seemed to know all about CAIs and exhaust systems too !!

Drags
Have you heard of any Titan owners using the Hellwig sway bar? For $100.00 and one hour install, it worked miracles on keeping the rear end of my Tundra planted. Immediate improvement. I just haven't looked into Titan applications for it.
