Broken Mirror

Lost my driver's side mirror today to a drive by hit and run (I was parallel parked along the road). I can only hope that whoever hit it lost their mirror as well. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone knew the approximate cost of replacement. It's the tow mirror with power/heated/memory. I found the kit with two mirrors for about $360-425, but I only need one. Another question, how hard is it to replace yourself?

Thanks!!

My tow mirror for a SE cost about $166 list. I don't think the memory is in the mirror, so yours should be the same.

Same thing happened to my mirror with me standing in a yard 2 feet from my truck. I had a trailer hooked up, so I could't chase him, but someone else did and caught him. He paid me for it, plus labor and rental vehicle. I installed it myself. Here's how...

Remove the three torx screws from the plate inside the door adjacent to the mirror. You have to remove the inside door panel to get to the electrical plug. There is a screw where the door handle is, under the square cover, and there are two under the cover on the "pull to close" handle, use a very small tipped flathead to remove this cover. Otherwise, if memory serves right, you "pop" the outer edges of the door panel out like any other vehicle.

After removing the panel and the black plate, there is one screw, 10mm, that you take out, hold the mirror up while removing this screw just in case, it may drop. Then pull the mirror straight out. Install is reverse, of course.

Only took me about 15-20 minutes start to finish. Hope this helps you. Any questions, feel free to ask, or just PM.

Checked the local dealers and was quoted $251-257 for just the LE tow mirror (OUCH!), and the SE mirror was around $207, so apparently there is a difference. They also wanted around $70 for installation. I'm looking for another place to purchase the mirror. Where did you get your mirror, or does anyone know where I can order one?

Thanks!

I got mine at Grubbs Nissan in the Fort Worth, TX area. You can go to www.grubbsauto.com then to Nissan Parts and get a price quote. They will give a 15% discount on an online parts purchase. Notice that I said $166 list. You get 15% off of that price.

If they tell you that you need to buy the chrome, don't buy it. The new mirror will come with it already installed on it.

I might have seen you driving around. I'll honk next time I see you.

I'm not the one in the safeway/best buy parking lot, but I've talked to him. He works at the cell phone store next to safeway. I was admiring the dual exhaust that he had installed. Something I might want in the future.

BTW, if you ever park along Main Street in Laurel, fold in your mirror!!!!

My truck was hit on main street a few months ago. Dented my bumper up.

I believe the LE's have the memory feature that can be set for the seats, mirrors, and pedals.
