Im ready to blow a gasket here

Ok so I have some good news to report, some of you may have seen that I was planning on selling my truck a few months back, well my finace and I worked out our money issues and Im able to keep my truck. That is the good news. The bad news is I am getting fed up with Nissan in general. I dropped off my truck today for service at my local dealer where I just moved. They finally got parts in for many of the problems I have been having. They are replacing the radio, the rear door handles, fixing the rattle under the dash, replacing the bed liner because it is bubbling. I also had asked them last time to look at my brakes. The service manager had the balls to tell me that this is a "NORMAL" thing with the Titan and there is nothing they can do to fix it. I looked him straight in the face and said "BS". Now Im having the same brake problems that most members of this forum have, the juddering and such. But I also have another problem that quite truly scares me. Sometimes I will be driving along and I will be able to push my brake pedal to the floor and my truck wont slow down, I will drop the gears and use the parking brake to stop. Then once I get going agian my brakes will start working normally. Now this happens like once in a blue moon. Like every 6-8 weeks. Of course when the service guy drives my truck it never happens. But I just love the comment that this is "NORMAL." So Im on the phone with Nissan Corporate and I have also contact my insurance company. Anyways I guess I just needed to vent and see if any one else has had my problems with the brakes or if anyone has any advice. Thanks in advance guys.

Oh yeah in case anyone is wondering I have a:

Sorry to hear of your problems, I would defenitly be concerned about the brake thing. However, comments like this....

Could be why your not getting the best service.

Go to his boss and explain your situation. Bring the TSB's with you and explain that you are frustrated and that you really just want your truck to work the way it is intended to. Tell him you love truck and you love the dealership but you are finding it very hard to deal with the Service Manager over warrenty issues that should not be questioned. Anyway, good luck.

I think soanso hit the nail on the head...

There is a TSB for the brake pedal issue and the brakes are supposed to be receiving an updated TSB for this soon.

www.nissanhelp.com Go here for the TSB's.

Good luck!!

You may be experiencing "phantom brakes" which is caused by excessive water in your brake fluid. Under certain driving conditions the water turns to vapor, which translates to no brake pedal. It can be frustrating because the condition can disappear just as quickly and when the service guys checks the system, all seems normal. Phantom brakes ususally occur in high heat conditions (I had it a few times when I lived in Florida and had some interesting trips down the Beeline Expressway!) The only fix is to purge your brake system and refill with new, dry brake fluid, from a sealed can (not something sitting around in your garage). I suggest using DOT5 fluid, which is silicone and will fix the problem for good since the silcone is hydrophobic and will not absorb the water. The water, by the way, can come from atmospheric moisture and you'd be amazed how much the OEM brake fluids (DOT3 and DOT4) love it and absorb it. Hope this helps. What you're experiencing sure sounds like a fluid problem to me and when the problem will re-occur is simply not predictable. Cheers!

Just curious, I have an 04 with about 2k on the odo. No problems with anything so far, knock on wood. Why are some haveing these problems and I believe most not?

Seems to me that this problem would be much, much more prevelent. Did Nissan make a fix mid year or something?

Sorry if this has been addressed already, and I hope I don't have these problems, but it seems like if it's a design flaw that everyone would eventually have this problem.

I think this would be more a Engineering/purchasing/vendor problem before a Service Tech problem, so your covered as far as I'm concerned.
