A used XE 2wd Titan King Cab! But seriously, there are many options, I think you need to narrow it down more for us as to what your looking for. Are you looking for a fast four seater for Sunday drives, a sporty luxury car for daily use, etc., etc. There are many options out there. If your looking for a toy, how about a early 90's 300ZX 2+2 convertible.
REAL sports cars only have 2 seats!! No, really, I'd look at a VW Golf GTI with the 1.8L turbo engine. Lots of potential for upgrades, and if you play your cards right you can probably get a nice one for around $10-12K, and have $3-5K for upgrades. You can get a chip, intercooler, exhaust, and get that thing around 260-280HP, very easily. Another option would be a Mustang. You could tweak that with a supercharger and get some real HP as well. If I had $15K, I'd buy the nicest, cheapest car that fit the profile, and go crazy with upgrades, assuming it is a "fun" car. Good luck.

i'd buy an old CHP mustang for dirt cheap and take the rest of the duckets and modify it with every last remaining penny and smoke the living hell out of the tires. i'd even keep the CHP colors on it maybe even redo it with layers of clearcoat on it to make it look wet at all times. Throw some big ol' antennas on it and pull up behind speeding EVOs, WRX, Firebirds, whatever and make 'em think the LAW is their tail haha, then floor the living crap out of it and zip on bye, then seconds later get pulled over by the real cops. from laughter to embarassment in seconds, that would suck!!!
