i have noticed A LOT of people putting lots of stuff on their TITAN and i think its GREAT. there are A LOT of really smart and ingenious peeps here, no doubt. however, i would like to find out if people are just personalizing or changing because they are not happy w/ certain aspects. i mean, it seems like people are spending copious amouts of money on their TITAN. do you have other hobbies? my wife and i make a very comfortable living but i have a hard time justifying spending another 2-5k or more on a newly purchased 30k plus truck.
please, dont get me wrong im definately not dogging anyone here, (i love TITAN TALK and everyone here) i just would like to know what everybody thinks on the subject.
I think it great to personalize a truck after having it for a while (a year or so). It gives me a new love for the truck all over again. There is nothing that I don't like about the truck but, when you start seeing more and more of them out there you just want yours to stand out and be a little different.

Hey Goathead
If more and more people keep moding their trucks it won't be long and our stock trucks will stand out, and you and I will have saved lots of money for more permanent things.(like a swimming pool)

Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

None of my vehicles stay stock for too long. It is a hobby of mine tinkering on cars/trucks so I cant keep my hands off of them. I also race my car at the track, so I wouldnt be winning to many races if I was still stock.

I guess you could call them "mods" but the only things I have done to my truck were to install step rails, "i'm a shorty" and I think they keep door dings to a minimum, I put on a bug deflector because the bugs in Tn. during the summer are really bad. It does keep a lot of goo off the windshield. I also put on seat covers because after going hunting you can imagine what I might otherwise get on the seats.
The things that I have done are more to protect my investment than anything else.

i mod all my cars. it's a hobby, and gives way to good conversation to other car enthusiests.
i'm waiting till i get a raise / new job, and then i can buy an old sports car and start modding it
the only thing is: i keep getting tempted to do stuff to my titan. i'm lucky to spend less than $1000 - $2000 each year modding my titan. and now i'm got a 6" lift and supercharger on the brain.
i've got SS brake lines on the way, and i'm going to have to force myself to wait till my tires wear out to get some mud terrains. the leveling kit is a temptation also.
so many things to do, but not enough money. patience...
I'm going to leave the engine stock. The Tint (A MUST IN Arizona!!) the bedcover (keeps my stuff pretty dry), the nerfs (so kids can get in and out without problems), and the hitch (tow trailer) were bought for specific purposes like the ones listed. I got all of those for about $780 which is a sh!tload less than what I would have paid for it at the dealers. I'm just about done buying sh!t, except for rubber floormats.
Wouldn't mind new black 20" rims and tires and PRG leveling kit and some fogs and...... But, I'm not going to drop the coin for any of that right now.
Later ICE

Both. I wasnt happy that I would have to spend over $500 for Sirius radio. So instead i took out the stock stereo and put in my own personalized system. Then tinting the window, throwing 20"chrome rims, just to make it that when i see a fellow titan on the road, it wont be the exact same thing as mine.

I usually mod all my cars in some form. On my Ram I added the billet grill, k&n drop in ghost flames and flowmaster. I like the exhaust on the titan but would like to get a chrome tip and do something different with the paint. I love flames but they just wouldn't look that great on the lines of the body. I would also like to get a billet grill and the bottom pieces. I really don't like how the bottom is open to show the fan. It just looks like it needs something.

After market add ons and mods are a personal touch for my Titan. However, don't think I'll be adding anything that has form without function. As soon as I get my Titan back from the body shop I'll be installing an exhaust, ceramic brake pads, and ss brake lines. After that, only an intake is planned down the road.

To answer your question, it is very simple, you can always improve a car, and with that I mean:
A new Radio will be a good improvement.
Tires: I can't wait til my OEM tires die, so I can get new ones a tad smaller and gripper.
Mirror: XE no Homelink, ebay came to the rescue and now I have a new mirror with homelink.
What else, hmmm ... brakes, we can always improve this, right?.
The point here is that for the money the Titan is perfect, now if I had a choice to order my truck the way I want it,.... well lets just leave it there, oh yea we can make the truck ours by doing this "improvements"
I modify all of my vehicles. It's not that what came stock is bad, just the stuff that's put on after is better.
I think it was Chip Foose that said, "a car is an extension of your personality". There's no way Nissan is going to build a truck just for me. I need to tweek a bit to get it to my liking.
I too make a decent living, but I make it a point to keep a fat chunk of it on my cars and bikes. I spend about 3-6 grand extra per car or truck and there's NO WAY I'm telling what I've spent on my motorcycles, but I'll say I bought a Ducati for no other reason than to ride it on a race track less than 10 times a year.
