It was my first time at the track. I was expecting high 16's based off of the edmunds.com 2004 Full-Size Truck Comparison Test, and my lack of experience, so I was presently surprised at mid 15s.
I have not modified the truck yet and so far the only thing I've changed is the oil (5w30 Moble 1 syn), nor did I do any of the recommended things to improve the times. (Tail gate was up, no power breaking or burn outs.) I did only have about 3/8ths of a tank in gas (87 oct) and I made sure VDC was off.
How does this compare with other stock Titan 1/4 mile times?
It was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll be back. I love this truck.

Just curious, What/Who were you racing in those three runs?
I think for a stock King that is pretty average if not a little above average. Not horrible response times either... Some guys have adjusted tire pressure, removed the tailgate, burn-out, etc. and were able to get to the low 15's. I think there is a thread here that has a setup that will get you in the low 15's stock.

Posted this on the details link I gave above but here it is along with a lowres pic of the time slips.
First run was against an older Dakota of some sort, didn't see much of it , second run was against a beefed up 80 something mustang, third was against a Toyota MR2.
Thanks for the info I'll do some searching around.

Not to bad, many of the magazines I've read stated their 1/4 runs were from 15.0 to 15.3 seconds. So since it's your first time, it gives credit to the Titan that an expert isn't needed to get fast times.
Also while a burn out is really easy on the street, I've not seen many home brewed cars at the track that can defeat the glue they use. It's kind of funny seeing built up Camaros not be able to chirp the tires even.
Nice times for stock. You got in three runs in about 3.5 hours, was that because a lot of cars showed up and the wait was long? I want to get to a track after my mods are done and am wondering if the wait is usually long to make a run at these events.

A drag racing newbie question here, if you did'nt do a burnout, did the Titan just hookup and go at this track's surface? Do you just drive through the tire spin if any? I would think the Titan is very handicapped without a true limited slip differential and racing in 4x4 mode seems destructive.

Have a good one.
The camaros you have seen must be running slicks or drag radials. On any thing less a stock 01/02 camaro will light em up on even on a very sticky track.

I was there with a friend of mine (BMW M3 13.7sec) who has been there quite a bit. Apparently it was an extra slow day, on top of there being a big turn out there were breakdowns between our first and second runs and our second and third. He said on most days you can get a run in every 30 minutes. I'm sure it varies between tracks and the days you go there but even though the wait was long it was worth it.

At least what I experenced it seems the trick to better times is to keep the tires locked to the ground. Unfortunately I could not tell if I was breaking traction or not. When you have 50 beefed up muscle cars and several real dragsters with their engines running behind you can't hear your tires squeal or chirp. (For obvious reasons I didn't want to look at the dash to see the slip light.) With the first run I started off doing 3/4 throttle then all the way once I was moving, the second run I gave it a little more and then the third I put my foot through the floor. The times kinda show that but there are so many variables its hard to point to a single thing. I'm guessing that I may have slipped a little on the last one but I'm not sure. Next time I plan on spending some time figuring out what works the best and if I am spinning the tires on track. (I can certainly spin them on regular pavement, even get a full rotation when VDC is on.)

I'll take that as a complement to both me and the truck .

From what I saw, most every vehicle there, especially the ones with slicks, had no problem breaking traction for several seconds durning the burn outs and a bit from the start. I'm not sure whether that was a propery of the slicks or the fact that if you spend that much on tires you'd better have an engine requiring it. It seemed that most everyone there had sunk some good money into modifications. (If I had the money right now I'd be doing the same.)
