In the tailpipe!

I don't want to be a TROLL, but I'd like to tell you guys my story about my purchase / order.

I special ordered a '05 CC LE back in 11/04 and it was supposed to have arrived by the end of 1/05. The reason I ordered this vehicle was because I wanted a sunroof on the LE and that was it. The dealer called Nissan and confirmed that the sunroof was going to be a stand-alone option on '05 LE and placed my order.

I got a call from the dealer this past Monday and I though my truck had FINALLY arrived. When I called him back, he told me that Nissan performed crash testing on a vehicle equipped the way I ordered it and it didn't pass side-impact crash test without the side airbags. He said that they will put them on my vehicle for no charge, but it would now be another month till it would deliver. Meanwhile, my vehicle is sold to a lady who's waiting for delivery and getting pretty impatient. I spoke with the dealer again on Tuesday, this time he said, "well Nissan changed their mind and they're going to only put the sunroof on the decked-out units." "Costs too much, I don't want it!" Then he looks through the system for an existing base CC LE and found 1. He told me that they'd pay for the dealer trade and probably give me the rubber floor mats for free, or I could wait for the one from the factory that will be here on the 3rd week of February.

At this point, Nissan hasn't offered me anything to make up for their error. I told the dealer that I could have bought an '04 and received the $2K rebate, but now I can't do that. Of course there's the $1K or 0% for 60 right now, but still, I could have received another $1K off. This is my first new vehicle I've ever bought (also will be the 4th Nissan I've owned) and it's the most expensive vehicle that anyone in my entire family has ever bought.

I wish they'd give me the $2K and 0% financing, but the dealer says that Nissan won't budge on anything. I've gotten used to their bad service at all the dealers I've been to, but I'm very surprised that Nissan would do this.

I went and test drove an F-150 Lariat w/ sunroof yesterday ($36,XXX on the window sticker) and I gotta say, that's one helva nice truck! I made an offer of $29,5, left my number, and walked out. My wife called me on my cell and said the Ford dealer said they'd do it. Gotta say it's tempting. What do you guys think?

STAY FAR AWAY FROM FORD!!! Ford is having all types of problems with their trucks, and their service department is the worst experience's i have ever had to go through...I never had a problem with Nissan service maybe its your area but the treatment I get from Nissan you would think they owe me something. Get the Titan I love mine

Well ....

"Nissan" is not changing their mind ... changing their configuration ... learning anything from brand new crash tests ... etc ....

The dealer is just filling you full of more $hit than a Christmas Goose !!

As far as the Ford goes ....

I belive that the F350 SuperDuty is one helluva truck !!

And I wouldn't touch anything in the line below that ....

JMHO ....

the 04 f150's are sweet lookin especially the lariats. Thats a good deal to get that f150 also, but the problem is do u want to deal with the problems of the ford which include transmission problems, or the problems of the nissan titan which are:
1. brake judder
2. warp rotor
3. various rattling noises
4. ****ty parts ie. "fake rockford fosgate" radio and ****ty shocks including rancho's

An important thing to say is that if you buy either truck, its probably inevitable that your gonna have problems. My titan was the first new truck that I bought also that was paid for in cash, and to say the least, so far im happy. I have started getting the brake judder problem and im closing in at 4,000 miles. Im actually taking my truck in tomorrow for them to replace the brakes and rotor which they said would take about 2 hours. I haven't had any other problems so far. I do know some people that have the f150 and have had some mean transmission problems. IMO i would go with the titan. Its a sweet truck and overall, i think you will be happy. Just my 2 cents.

bill even with the f350 line of trucks, there having a lot of problems with the CPS taking a **** and then your stranded. The CPS on the 250's and 350's go out at random times whether the truck is new or old and if it goes out, your ****ed. Its a couple hundred bucks to replace one.

Smile What do you guys think? . . . . .

It had better be what does your own gut or psychic think. Each of your choices has their pluses and minuses with specific owners of both having either a love, hate, or somewhere in between relationship with the truck they own.

Myself, I desperately miss the automatic climate control available on the Lariat, that is until I hit the gas and the Titan lets out a roar and slams me back into the seat!! A fair trade off IMO.

Try and take a test drive of each one within the same morning or afternoon holding the salesmen at bay and just concentrating on how each feels, performs, and looks to you and no one else. Only include a significant other in your choice, what friends, relatives, and members on this site rave about might or might not mean anything to you.

The Titan is also my most expensive vehicle I have ever owned by quite a bit and to me every penny was well spent.

I would say get the Ford, if that is what you want. Both of my sons have Ford Lariets, 03 and 04. They are both nicer trucks than my Titan, although my Titan has more power and is what I wanted. Get what you will be happy with.

Get the Titan or you'll be sorry down the road. My buddy who got the F150 loves my Titan and his truck is rattlier ( ) than my beast. Don't go with the herd, buy the Titan.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I drove both the Titan and the F-150 back-to-back yesterday and I must say that the Titan does shut the Ford out when it comes to powa! I think that driving both just further cemented the Titan as the #1 in my mind.

What do you guys think about Nissan not compensating or satisfying me for this inconvenience? That's what's killing me.

Unless it's a regional thing, as far as I know the finance rate is 2%/60 months not 0%. Secondly why would a sunroof affect the crash impact test enough on your choice but not affect another one? I think someone isn't being honest with you. Sounds like a crock of ---- to me.

Have you tried another dealer. I know there are several dealers in my area and they all are different when it comes to service and what they will offer...even between the ones owned by the same company! If this dealer won't satisfy you now, then it's time to find a new one before you buy and forget about how you've been inconvenienced. I was in a similar situation as you...only I got screwed after the sale. The dealer said that they, and Nissan, wanted me to be a happy customer. I told them what it would take to make me happy...they said they couldn't do what I wanted and basically drew a line in the sand and wouldn't do anything else for me. So if you can, find a new dealer!

As far as the Ford/Nissan decision, that is a tough one IMO. My buddy has the Lariat loaded. It is nice and he's had no rattles, but, he too has the brake judder and his rear differential clunks quite often (not from axle wrap, it's just sloppy I think). If I had to do it again I would get the 05 Titan loaded!

The dealer was either misinformed himself (from the begining) or he misled you to get the order. My posts about your sunroff-only LE plans last fall have turned out true.
I'm sure you're very disappointed. Anyone would be.
The Lariat is a beautiful truck. The engine/transmission is a disappointment. That's why they've got a six-something liter V8 in the early planning stages. You'll live with that powertrain every day you own either truck. Your choices are a lethargic disappointment, or one that dazzles and never leaves you wishing for more.
I don't think Nissan will compensate you for a option combo they never offered. The dealer's at fault here. That's who should take the hit. Isn't there more than one Nissan dealer in B'ham?
BTW this "pay for the dealer trade" b/s they're offering you is another myth.
Maybe that 29,500 F150 deal is the solution to your dilema.
Best of luck!

Do What Makes You Happy. I had a Ford F-150 Super Crew that was a great truck and never ever had any issues. I traded my '04 Titan in for a new Ram 1500 Hemi which has been a gem so far. If the Ford will make you happy - buy it. titan is a very fun truck too. I would definatley try another Nissan dealer before I shut the door on the Titan if you really like it.
