Electronic crackle sound from corner of dash - driver's side

The sound I'm hearing is more like an electronic "crackle" or static than a tick, and my sound is coming from the driver's side, not the passenger's side. It's coming from the left corner of the dash. I at first suspected the speaker, but the sound doesn't go away when the stereo is turned off. Any ideas?

Probably those metal clips underneath the defroster vent. Mine does it too.

I've got this too. Sort of a chirp. Comes and goes. Thanks in advance for the info.

Mine had the same noise, sort of a tic, tic, but really high pitched. The dealer found a couple of dash bolts were loose. (so they say). Its gone now, and my truck is very quiet now.
