F150 - Titan Comparison....

There is none really....atleast in my opinion. I have a 2005 F150 as a rental while the dealership replaces my bed due to the bedliner problem (2005 bed w/tailgate assist). It only has 3700 miles on it, but it doesn't even come close to matching it. Too each their own, but I just don't see how anyone can say the F150 is any better than the Titan.

Front seats make me feel like I'm sitting practically on the floor board, compared to the Titan where I feel like I'm actually up and above things.

Power - doesn't have the 'ooompf' behind it like my Titan does when I punch it to get around slow traffic. It gets up and goes, but seems more gradual. Maybe that's cause it's a rental....who knows.

Looks wise - more 'tinny' looking and basic looking compared to the Titan.

Overall it's ok, but I miss my Titan already - hopefully will have it back Wednesday afternoon. Service adviser told me they had 2 Titan's in last week to do bed replacements on. Told me he was gonna take his time to do mine, just cause those 2 were such a pain in the rear.

I have thought that very thing when i borrow my fiance's or mother's Ford when mine is in the shop. Its small, its poorly designed, doesn't have the get up and go. Then i think...WTF, its NOT in the shop either...

Newbie here as of today! Just a quick note: I bought an 04' F150 last year and only had it about 3 months (3months too long), then traded it in on a 05' Toyota Tundra Limited and only had it 2 months and traded it in on an 05' Titan today. After owning all 3 of these trucks within the last year or so, I can tell you that the Titan blows them out of the water. The Toyota was also nice, but underpowered. I bought the LE Crew Cab in Red Alert with Nav, DVD, off-road, big tow, etc..I am very happy with it at this point (only has 48 miles on it) and hope that I do not experience some of the problems associated with this "almost first year production truck". Anyway, just wanted to share my 2cents with all of you. Do any of you think its inevitable that I will experience some of the problems mentioned in the problems forum, or has the 05's been tweaked and those problems resolved? Any help with what I can expect would be appreciated. I look forward to being a member of this great website for years to come. Hello to everyone!

That'll cost you the Infamous Brake Judder just for writing those words.

Paul from Philly...Welcome aboard!

Only 'issue' thus far with our '05 was brakes judder at 6k...A big improvement over the '04 we traded in.

You can do a search on 05 update and get my latest comparo's.

I only sat in a 2004 Ford F-150 Supercrew & thought it sucked - I didn't even want to drive it - and I didn't - it was a really strange feeling - not sure why really - I had a Ford F-150 SuperCrew previously, the older style - that I thought was a much better truck than the redesign that I refer to as "the barn on wheels"

You might want to check the rear differential fluid level just in case. I think I read about one '05 owner saying his Titan's was low.

Getting back to the thread's topic...I think everyone should test drive the Titan, and at least one other full sized truck, with the same general set of options that you want. This way you will have a reference of a current competing model, and will be able to easily see the Titans superiority.

I drove the F-150 and thought it was very nice. If I was going to do a lot of freeway driving the F-150 might have been an option as it was very isolated from the road. The Ford was like a large American luxury car. Sort of that floaty boat like feeling. [Some people would like this].

A few minutes latter I drove the Titan. A totally different vehicle. The Titan was like a muscle car power wise, but with the refined handling of a Japanese sedan, much like my '93 Toyota Camry. Not bad for a Monster truck. Quite a shock after driving the Ford a few minutes previously. I would imagine a Toyota or Frontier might be even better since they are smaller, but I needed the larger leg room in the back seat for my kids.

It handles so nice on the twisty roads I drive everyday. If this is the kind of driving you do and you need a 1/2 ton, I think this is the best choice. This truck is just fun to drive, even when going 55!

Does great in the mountains too. Had it up above 7000 ft. elevation in a little snow yesterday, and the OEM tires worked fine with 4HI. I like the Titan more and more.
