I have been lurking at this site a few weeks, once I decided a Titan is the truck I wanted. I have found a 2004 SE CC 4x4 with 9500 miles on it with the following options: Big tow package, Off Road package, Bucket seats with center console, cloth interior, 6 CD changer with rear seat control, spray in bedliner with Util-track. I know the front brakes and rotors have been replaced under factory warranty. The truck is coming from a dealer who uses it as his personal vehicle. Selling price 27,500. I have tried to find out retail prices on Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, and NADA sites but have been unsuccessful. For those of you who know, what do you think about this price. Thanks in advance for any responses
Hello and welcome to TT.com. That price seems a bit high for a used Titan. Maybe 22-24k.

I agree...that truck should actually be selling for around $24-$25.5 actually. For a comparison, a no-haggle price (Still above invoice) here in the San Diego area for a Brand new XE is $26k and for the SE is $29k (With the rebate included). Both of these 4X4 and Crew Cab and brand new..
At his 'price' your only getting a break of $1500 for the 9k miles he has put on it.
Since most 'dealers' smack a customer with a 1yr model trade-in by 5k or more...you have to decide what it is worth to you.
Thanks for your quick responses, I should have noted that this was the original asking price, I have not come back with a counter offer. I was thinking around 26,000, but maybe I need to offer a little less than that.
Thanks again, this forum has given me a lot of information re. the Titan, good and bad.
Your welcome...I would think a 'solid' offer would be $25.5k to 26.5k comparing to his original asking price. Start at the 'low' and settle what you willing to pay in your mind when he comes back with the counter offer.
Sounds kinda steep to me. I just bought my 04 SE CC 4X4 on 1/9 and was quoted around 26300 after rebate. I don't have the big-tow or off-road packages, but I have everything else and bought mine with 32miles on it. It would be a good deal if the mileage wasn't so high, but I'd say the dealer should come way down with the number of miles it has.
Sounds about right to me..concidering that truck when new was about 34g. 9000 miles is new. If you're at a dealer, you probably won't do much better than that price. It also depends on what part of the country your in. If you're in the NE, grab it!
I live in WV, actually the dealer who is a friend of mine is getting the vehicle from another dealer. I have not seen or driven it, so a lot will obviously depend on condition. I actually thought that was a fair starting price, so I will offer somewhat lower and see what they give for my trade. Should I have them change the diff. fluid as part of the deal or should a certified Nissan dealer do it? It is an 04 so I am sure it does not have the synthetic, and what type of fluid are most of you using now?
Keep in mind if it's been titled to someone (truly used and not a demo) that his margin is much higher. That is, there's a ton more markup in used vehicles versus new ones. I'd lowball him at around 22-23 and see what happens.

Usually, on used the mark up is between $3k and $7k on average. You figure they bought that truck for maybe $500 more than the other lot had it booked for at the MOST. So, you definitely can get them to drop some cash off the price and do other things like replace all the fluids w/ synthetics, detail it (many will object to this, some won't, it's up to you), kick in a TRUE extended warranty, etc.
This site has tons of resources on all of this information like extended warranties, so I would research those and make sure that they give you a quality warranty and not some paper that has the word Warranty written on it. It happens. Good luck!!
Much too high for a used truck with 9500 miles. I checked at www.carsdirect.com for the same vehicle you referenced and the MSRP was $34,450. Invoice was $31,051. Cars Direct's price was $29,400 which included $2000 rebate. For that difference between new and used, I would shoot for a new truck for not more than $29,000. I would make the dealer give a better price than you can buy from carsdirect, otherwise buy the truck from carsdirect.
There are also some sponsers on this website that advertise for about $500-750 under invoice. Subtract from that the $2000 rebate and you should have a new 2004 truck with the options you want for well under $29K.
