Newbie here..does my 05' have synthetics throughout now?
Hello everyone from southen Ohio. Just picked up my 05' LE CC today and was wondering what changes I needed to make immediately to ensure prolonged life out of my new baby. I have read many threads throughout this wonderful site over the last couple of days and found that some folks were having problems with rear ends, brakes, fuel gauges, etc...So, do I need to immediately change my fluids throughout to synthetics or does my 05' now have synthetics? Also, can anyone advise me on some other potential problems or issues that I can immediatley try and resolve before they get worse? Thanks everyone for any info you can help me with. Oh, this website kicks a**!

If your 05 has the aluminum differential cover it should already have synthetic gear lube in it.
As far as the engine goes, the prevailing theory is to leave the dino in during break in and most believe that you should change the oil for the first oil change before the recommended 3750/7500 intervals stated in the manual. How soon and how often is open to debate. Some people recommend to wait until after break-in before going to synthetic. Some say stay with dino as the manual recommends.
You shouldn't have to do anything to your new truck but just be aware of some of the issues that other owners have had so you can recognize the early sypmtoms if they should happen to you.
By the way there are many Titan owners who have not had any problems, including 04 models, so just relax and enjoy you great new ride.

Yes, mine does have the aluminum diff cover, so I guess I am ok. And, you are right in that I really need to quit worrying and really enjoy my new toy. Man, this thing is awesome. Thanks for your reply!
Our '04 (10 months, 29k miles) probably was not the best apple in the bunch...our '05 only one minor annoyance thus far that we hope will be taken care of with the new brake fix.
Our '05 has 8500 miles thus far and we are lovin it!
Just enjoy your truck...i love my 04 no major problems...just a rattle inside the drivers door but my service department is going to take care of that...no other problems at all

Mike, why do you think I need to check all of the fluid levels? Does alot of the Titans come from the factory with low fluid levels normally? What specific levels are you talking about?
Some rear differentials were low, even some '05s I believe. So it doesn't hurt to check all levels, but rear differential is a definite.
At some point the owner's manual was changed to a higher amount 68 oz. from ?, so this might have been an engineering change.
It's easy to check and if it will give you peace of mind, get a wrench and have a look.

After loosening and removing the bolt on the rear diff, how will I know its full? Is there some mark I am looking for or a certain level? Sorry, never done this before. Oh, should I check the front also?

Loosen the fill plug, (not the drain). Do it when it's not too hot, stick your pinky or small very clean, lent-free stick in to see how far down the fluid is. Should be close to the top.
Unless you have a torque wrench, for when replacing the plug, (25 foot lbs. rear fill, front fill and drains 20 foot lbs., on the '04 anyway, check you manual), you should just have a mechanic check them for you. Mine did them for free.
