Has anyone ever had a Titan dealer do a trade from out of state?
I'm working on one right now and my dealer wants $.85 per mile to bring it here. That seems reasonable to me since they send their own regular contract driver and I only get charged for the trip back with my truck. I'm assuming he will be driving a diesel with a gooseneck. I don't think they would drive a car hauler to get one truck. What do you guys think?
How many miles they talking? I didn't do it on a Titan, but did with a Pontiac a few years ago from Pheonix, AZ. If I remember right, they charged me $250 for that fo just over 300 miles so it sounds about right.
Actually they may drive your truck and not use a hauler. My dealer sent a salesman on a bus from North Jersey to Boston Mass. and he drove the car back. About 225 miles. Usually the dealers swap cars but the Mass. dealer didn't want the mileage on the car he'd receive. So my dealer just bought the car outright. Did they say they were towing it back? My last truck was driven 40 from dealer to dealer.
They are hauling it back. The first one they found I refused because
it had 190 miles on it. That sounds like a new demo to me. This one has 18 miles on it (I called the other dealer and they checked). It will be about 1100 miles. Even if I flew and picked it up if you figure airfare, gas, hotel, meals, and the good price they are giving me on my trade (and the tax savings), it's cheaper to let them go get it.
Am I hearing right? You're looking to buy a brand new truck, your dealer found the one you want at another Nissan dealer, and wants to charge you to get it there? NO WAY! Find another dealer!!!! That's outrageous and unheard of.

When I bought mine they went to PA to get it. They had to give them a 350Z and take my Titan and a Quest in return. It was about 250 miles and they drove it back with no extra charges.

When my dealer located a Titan for me it was in Nasheville Tenn...7 hrs. away and out of state......I went with a driver...dropped off a Sentra..started to drive back to NC with the Titan......got about 2 miles out of Nasheville and noticed...no BIG TOW mirrors!!! It was the wrong truck!!!.Nasheville did not have the Titan I wanted......but my dealer was not going to charge me a penny for delivery if it was. Second Titan located for me was about 180 miles away...again I went with the driver to deliver another vehicle and drove it back...yes it was the correct Titan the second time!! The driver told me he got paid by the mile...around 40-60¢.

That's garbage. My Titan was brought in from New Jersey (purchased in MA) for free. The only charge Iw as quoted was if I wanted it trucked in on a flatbed to save milage and I declined.
My dealer made a trade with a dealer in Montgomery, AL, I think about 250 miles away. The way I understood it, my dealer had a guy drive down there in the car my dealer was giving up, dropped it off and drove my Titan back. No charge to me, although it could have been built in to their price as we negotiated.
1100 miles away may be a whole other story since they are hauling it back. I can't believe they can't find one closer, but differeent regions of the country may have different inventories. It sounds like you could get the truck cheaper by buying more options to find it closer and not pay the delivery fee. For example, they might find the truck you want but with the big tow package at the dealer in the next town. As long as you buy less than $935 (1100 miles at $0.85/mile) worth of more options, you get a better truck at the same or lower price. Just a thought.

Yeah...if they were gonna charge me extra......I would also buy some extras to get more Titan features and less miles........excellent point travism!! Also drivers tend to drive about 80 mph as they get paid by mileage and not time.......I would not want my new Titan to be broke-in at 80 mph....no way!!! That is why I went with the driver both times!!!Tom

Call another Nissan dealer, ask for sales manager. Give him the exact model you want, The price you agreed on at the other dealer, and the credit terms. Tell him you are ready to buy on those terms but you won't pay delivery. If the other dealer has already met your price, a new dealer isn't going to miss a sale on delivery charges. Call around, and then you can either buy it there, or call your original dealer back and tell them you're going somewhere else that won't charge you. Either they will cave or lose your business and you just buy somewhere else.

My salesman drove a Maxima from Chicago to St. Louis and drove my Titan back. Put around 300 miles on it but they didn't charge me for it. If they had even mentioned it, I would have walked right out the door and driven myself to St. Louis and done the deal down there.

My Titan was local, but my Audi was in another state. They did not charge me for delivery to my dealer (enclosed carrier). The destination charge is already paid when you buy the vehicle. They should not charge you an extra amount for delivery to another dealer. Maybe Nissan just handles this differently.
Even though they would be hauling this truck back, for those that are going to have theirs driven back by the dealer, make sure your warranty covers you for the standard warranty mileage plus what was on the odometer when you get the truck. It's morning so I can't remember the Titan's standard warranty, but if it goes to 36,000 btb, mine goes to 36,400 because it had 350 miles on it after it was driven here from a different dealer. Probably won't make a difference, but you never know.
