wait till all of you get PreRunnerGreg's Leveling Kit (PRG lift) - my lights shoot right in all of the mirrors of about 99% of the cars on the road. its amazing!!! i love pulling up behind lowered rice burners and pissing them off, well i kinda feel bad... but its fun to do it to those guys - then blast past their little 4 bangers...

This is true. Stay AWAY from any colored bulb, it is a marketing gimick and a rip off. For less than the cost of 1 silverstar bulb you can get 2 phlips Hi-Vis bulbs. They use higher quality components and are made to tighter specs than other bulbs and shape the beam in a more precise manner. There is more to lighting than wattage and how many K a bulb is.

Anyone know what ga the headlight wiring is? If it is like most it is undersized and could benefit from a headlight relay kit to up the voltage to what it SHOULD be. I did this on my car and the lighting was noticably better and I ended up with a more reliable headlight circut. My car had 18ga and I upgrades to 14ga. You can test the voltage drop from the headlight socket with a multi meter to see what you would have to gain.

I love the head lights. When we take or annual summer trip we leave very early in the morning. Same thing on the way back. We hit fog in quite a few places and the headlights were great. Glad I had the dealer add the fogs to my SE 4x4. When nobody was coming the other way and you could turn on the brights, you could see the curvature of the earth. I have only been flashed a few times with low beems on and it was on 2 lane roads by little/low cars. I'm not changing my lights for them. I do agree the lows do light up the rearview mirror of most cars. They either flip their night knob on the mirror or get over so I can pass. I did have one guy give me the finger from his fast and ignorant angry bumble bee car, but as soon as I turned on the high beems and lit up every hair on his forearm, the hand went down. You could xray someone with the high beems.
As a side note, I also love the auto dimming rearview mirror to combat the high beems of others coming from behind. The power side mirror takes care of the rest. You can actually accidentally direct their high beems right back in their face, accidentally of course.

I have SilverStars in two vehicles, almost three years use, without a failure. I drive about 20,000 miles a year, about 50% with the lights on.

I have the Silverstars on my low beams. I sang their praises at first, but now the passenger side beam is getting a pinkish hue to it. Not acceptable on my manly truck! It could be my fault since I didn't wear any gloves when I installed the things, but they are probably coming out soon and being replaced with the OEMs. $30 lesson learned for me.

I would seriously try the Hi-Vis by Philips. They are $9 each at my local autozone. They are stock wattage but were noticably better in my car. They are what Dan Stern recommends.
