Not only that but also because they build junk. There will always be the piece of crap "Friday" car as long as they are unionized. Not to mention the fact that the stuff they sell is yesterday's news (still using pushrod motors). The new Mustang would pack even more power if they used 4-valves per cylinder instead of cutting corners and using just 3 and also if they adopted VVT technology. It amazes me that people would think nothing of dropping $20k or $30k on something from the big 3 that is already outdated but this is just my opinion.
I hate to drift from the thread, but man is that (the photo)look like a great place to slide around or what...

I read an article in one of the automotive magazines the other day. The first line said something like "I test drove a new corvette the other day. The first thing I saw when I opened up the door was a wrinkled up crooked decal that said "Made with pride by the UAW"." How much pride do you have if you can't even put a decal on right?

Well there are alot of faily ignorant comments in this. First of all pushrod motors aren't "yesterday" motors infact the push rod and ohc designs have been around a similar amount of time and both have their advantages. Next ford using 3 valve cylinder heads isn't exactly cutting corners either using 3 valve heads can be very efficent as the exhaust valve(which is the single) does not need to flow as easily as the intake valve. the triton's are sohc as well so probably wouldn't grain much if any from going to a 4 valve design. Espcially when you consiter the lower rpm range they operate at. Outdating as you say is very debatable
There are some good reasons to buy japanese but none of the reasons you list is one of them
Wow, I'm glad I didn't purchase from one of the big 3.

Actually, I'm glad I did this time - I was a little skeptical at first - but I've had far fewer initial problems with my new 2003 Ram (actually not a problem at all with the Ram) than I did with my 2004 Titan. I'm not busting balls here - but I've been ddriving Niaans for 20 years and still have a 2001 Pathfinder. My Titan was the most disappointing vehicle I've had, (expect my 1984 Fiero - waht was I thinking?), I put 22,000 miles on the Titan - decent truck that needs some bugs worked out & some adequate front brakes, & I understand it's a first year production - have almost 3,000 on the Ram so far & all is well. I also had a Ford f-150 SuperCrew that was flawless as well.
DOHC's image = Sports car like, More like BMW, Mercedez and Cadillac, flashier image
OHV's image = Truck like, More like low-end Chevrolet, stable image
Image aside, both have merits, and I personally enjoy my OHV Blazer's low-tone engine note better than my DOHC Sequoia's nervous, high-pitch engine sound
Its funny, I have readso many posts about how many problems you guys have with your titans. This goes wrong and that goes wrong. But when i read up on ram forums, there are far fewer posts about problems and things going bad on them. My dad has a 2003 hemi ram and has had no problems whats so ever. He deosnt baby it, takes it offroading all the time. I have taken it off road also (but we wont tell him about that) Im not saying the titan is a crappy vehicle, I have no experience with one. xcept for a Chief in my squadron (im in the navy) has one. He put exhaust on it and ill admit it sounded good. My Maintenance Master Chief has a hemi ram and they have a little rivalry between them anyways just my two cents

A lot of these guys on here are pro japanese , anti American at any cost. I buy the best car/truck for the best price no matter who makes it. The statements about pushrod motors abose are just ignorant and proves this point. Pushrod motors are less complicated, cheaper to produce, smaller, and lighter then ovc. I have a pushrod 5.7 ls1 engine in my Camaro that makes 50 more hp then the titan with just .1L displacement advantage.
