Question Anyone have their Rack & pinion replaced lately?

I took her in for low PS fluid (gets low every few K mi) for the second time. First time the service writer said it wasn't leaking even though I told him it was fine the first few thousand miles (Those guys never know what they're talking about). So this time I insist they find the leak. Turns out the rack is defective and a slow leak is accumulating fluid in the boots.

Anyway, long story short. They tell me they have to order the parts and they "should be in tomorrow". I did a search and saw a few old posts indicating waiting weeks for the parts. Anyone get this done recently and if so, how long did it take to get the parts?

my rack leaked on the way home from buying the truck....took over a week to get it shipped in. I had a brand new truck sitting in my driveway for a week and couldn't drive it.
Good Luck!

Having my rack replaced. My job description sheet the dealer gave me states," Tech found that the vehicle needs a rack. Found that the rack and pinion are binding inside causing the popping noise."

This thread descibes mine and others issues with the rack and pinion system.

My seals leaked into the boots also. They replaced the entire rack.
