What would you change in the Titan for 2006?

What would you change in the Titan for 2006?

Sure, the 2005's just came out. It seems like the power rear window, among other things, were smartly added by Nissan. But are there any other "doable" additions or subtractions that you'd like to see in the Titan line for 2006?

I'm in the market for a new truck and could have one in my driveway in one month or as long as one year or more. I know I'd be happy in a 2005 Titan, but I can already think of a few quick things that would make my next pickup purchase a virtual lock. Toyota's new Tundra will be out in the summer of 2006, so Nissan had better keep the recipe on the continual evolution and refinement track, not the stagnant one.

Here's a short list off the top of my head.

1. Make the side airbags package standard. I've found it difficult to package side airbags/curtain airbags in the Titan. For a $30K truck, it's inexcusable. The Tundra has it. Why not Titan?

2. Do a retroactive break fix that would vanquish any doubt that Nissan hasn't stretched its engineering unit too thin with all the new models it's released lately. Everyone expects some early model glitches, but the break thing is the only thing I can find that statistically is likely to plague at Titan purchase.

3. Get the Armada's full-time AWD system--the first in class. Yeah, trucks are top-heavy, but on Sunday going up to the Sierras I just passed another fullsize truck that had just flipped onto its side--and I wasn't even in the mountains yet. Don't laugh--even Honda's new "truck" has got a realtime AWD/4WD system.

4. Add more OEM and aftermarket support for Utili-track doo-dads. I'd like to see lumber rack/ladder rack with more capacity, among other things. I like putting all that lumber and molding up out of the way of my bed so that it doesn't slide around.

Can anybody else think of any probable or desirable upgrades for the Titan?

Mark

Thumbs up Heres one idea!!

Bigger and Better Mirrors....the Big Tow Mirrors are undersized period. Bigger ones would eliminate the BLIND spot that present BTM mirrors have. Running/blinker lights built-on would be a better/safer feature also for driver and following traffic. Of course the driver rear-view cabin mirror could be bigger and adjustable for height. I was actually thinking today of starting a thread to see if anybody has held the big F250/350 tow mirrors up to the Titan just to see how it would look???
A friggin seperate brightness control for the radio display.........try parking with your babe with the radio only on........can't dim it damn-it!!!!
That's my 06 prediction!! Of course there are many other features to enhance the Titan in 06.
Peace-Tom Bass Ale

The problem with overhead rack capacity isn't with the racks themselves ....

It's the fact that they are being supported off of the side utilitrack rails ...

And there's just a limit to what a couple of relatively small aluminum extrusions ... with a few mounting screws ... is gonna support ...

Longer bed and more power, you can never have enough power. Better looking wheels. More aggressive tires. Sun roof.

A 3/4 to 1 ton TURBO Diesel Titan would break my bank account and make my wife really pissed off when I traded in a new 2004 truck for an 06 Diesel and lost a sh!tload of $$$$ of money on the trade She would be the one with the club

later

A couple of simple things for me.

- lower heated mirrors on tow mirrors
- an indicator light when the cargo lights are on(I'm always leaving them on)
- cargo light control from the bed
- underhood light
- power tailgate lock
- lighted steering wheel radio/cruise controls
- better paint protection around the rear storage door

Correct me if I'm wrong but these items have not been addressed for 2005 have they?

Standard remote starter and keyless entry on the trucks that have power locks. How much extra could it cost to put a remote starter on every truck. $30 or so?

Re-design the captains seats...they suck. Other than that the truck is top shelf as-is.

Thumbs up

Just off the top of my head, an option for "body color" trim instead of chrome, a variation of "black chrome", or start a new trim color with brushed stainless or something. For 05' I like the grey wheels, but they look like silver ones with brake dust all over them. I would like to see something similar, but with a polished lip to make them really stand out (ala Xterra). I agree with the above on the lighted steering wheel and of course, cupholder. Thats about all I would change. I really like my Titan

Oh, one mort thing. Foglights should be included in the popular package for SE.

For me I would like to see:
1) A couple of additional Colors - Midnight Blue like the Murano and I think the other is called granite, it was on the '04 Frontier
2) A richer, more stylish feel of the interior,
3) More attention paid to detail on things like more functional Cup Holders, Coin Holders, storage pockets, and so on (sometimes it the little things that count)
3) a redesigned front bumper area, I'm not crazy about the 3 piece look, I would like a full chrome front bumper and maybe reduce the height of it a little.
4) Better Wheels
5) Factory Chrome Step Rails
6) Minimum 20mpg
7) No rattles and better brakes
8) Lighted Steering Wheel Controls
9) Power Tailgate lock

Not for me, But I have heard this from others I talk to:
10) A diesel engine
11) Long Bed
12) Manual tranny
13) Standard Cab
14) Sprayed in Bedliner for XE as an option
15) Heavy Duty

Another Idea:
16) Factory Street Truck like the Ford Lighting or Chevy SS

xenon lights on the LE (yes my 35K truck is less work and more show )
lighted steering wheel radio controls
better heated seats
better radio (get rid of the RF and design a good stereo with better display (use a large display like the GPS units have but make that a standard feature and put it where the head unit is and make all controls either touch screen volume, HVAC, bass prestes etc integrated into the stereo or knobs/buttons around the screen)

make alot of the GPS enabled vehicle features standard on all models (actuall tire pressure readings visible and not justa light,

ability to adjust features without having to go to dealer (length og headlight delay off, sensitivity, auto seat adjustment on'off etc)

SECOND PASS SIDE BED BOX!!!!!!!!! (i filled mine up and love it, i want a second one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

stuff that needs to be '06 Titan std. equip.

In NO particular order: (note...I currently have an SE)

1.) Radio that play MP3 files
2.) Auto door locks at 20MPH
3.) MPG monitor
4.) ONE switch that turns on ALL interior lights. Doors, Underdash, console. etc.
5.) A little more emphasis on finish/materials used for the interior.
6.) More forgiving front suspension (mine really BANGS on medium to large bumps)
7.) Front "MAP" lights need to be directionaly selectable AND be recessed so they don't shine in the eyes of the driver.
8.) POWER PASSENGER SEAT (LE?)
9.) Better mirrors, I have BT and still think they are undersized. I actually think I would prefer the other mirrors for their LONGER viewable area.
10.) Automatic lock on tailgate (just tie into Vehicle locks)
11.) Rear seat storage compartment (CC) for headphones, etc.
12.) Auto folding mirrors (like the Escalade) so you can fit into tight places without having to get out and fold them.

All I can think of for now.

Things I agree with others on:
13.) Lighted steering wheel controls
14.) Other side of bed storage box
