Why my MPG only 15 hwy.

I was reading an article put out by the USEPA and NAtional Laboratory which says , on average, every mile per hour over 55 will decrease your MPG by 1 percent. In Texas our freeway speed limit is 70 and I keep running near 80. That would give me about a 25 percent loss in fuel economy. That means I am lucky to get 15 mpg. The only time I got 19 MPG was driving on some Louisiana roads where the speed limit was 55 and I did around 60-65. I can believe that these trucks will get the 18-19 mpg as rated if we can keep our foot out of the radiator.

Just did a drive from Memphis to Nawlins' and back and averaged 15.8 MPG at 75 MPH. Not too bad especially considering my Frontier could only muster 14.5 MPG highway, though it was the S/C with various mods.

My KC 2WD XE can break into the 20's with 42 pounds in the tires and doing 75 mph. On coutryside mid-grade I can get 22 mpg. Another factor is straight long haul no stop 400 mile increments. I've yet to really get a good read with my gibson sweptside and bed cover. Hoping that bumps it to 23-24! juma

15 mpg - some would say "You Lucky Bastard"

I'm running close to 14 mpg with nearly 4,000 miles on my Ram Hemi 4x4, it's been lower lately from using 4wd during a the dailey f**kin snow we've been getting. I got about, but still alittle less, on my 04 Titan.

dcrobt, have you calculated for your larger wheels. I'll bet your getting better than 13.9 mpg.
