Rockford Fosgate

What do you guys think about the Rockford Fosgate system....I like the whole one piece look....for the dash.....As for previous cars I've always upgraded the stereo and added subs....Is the upgrade worth it???

I think it is pretty good for a stock system. Others on here think it is crap. Personally, I don't really drive enough to justify a nice aftermarket system.

Clarion - Rockford - And - Panasonic

IMHO, no, it is not worth it, if you plan on adding subs. I would buy a basic truck with the double-din dash cover and go aftermarket for a good audio/video/NAV system.

It is somewhat problematic to upgrade the RF because the amp is underpowered, the speakers are 2 ohm (so you won't be upgrading the speakers without replacing the amp), there are no RCA outs on the HU, the HU produces extremely low pre-amp signal levels at the speaker outs (so you might be buying a pre-amp), and there are potential problems with integrating an aftermarket HU with OEM DVD,NAV, steering wheel controls, and rear audio/visual controls. The OEM sub is small and mounted in a bad location (unless you like your keister rattled & vibrated) Not to mention that the FM reception on the RF has been poor for many.

I made the RF mistake and have managed to cobble together a decent sounding system by tossing the RF amp, speakers & sub, retaining the RF HU using an LOC and a pre-amp, and adding decent aftermarket speakers, amps, and a sub. However, I am still stuck with the RF HU because of the NAV & DVD integration problem. I have the Nissan (Clarion) XM and an MP3 player plugged into the AUX jack, so I never have to listen to FM.
