Hard Decision ... Need Opinions!!

I've had my mind set on replacing my wrecked '04 KC SE, 2wd w/OR and BT with an '05 LE 2wd w/BT, Navigation and side-airbags w/VDC ... until the other night. I made an unexpected stop at the dealership and after not finding anything I proceeded to leave. On my way out I saw an '05 4WD KC LE with this exact setup! (see attachment)

The truck I found is red brawn w/a 2" leveling kit. Unfortueately, I was too excited to see what kind of tires it had on it, but those are the wheels. When I saw it I fell in love all over again! It's definitely one of the best looking Titans I've ever seen. And ... it drove so much better than stock. It was being prepped to be put in the show room when I found it, but the GM has set it aside for me and I will probably finalize everthing today or tomorrow.

I'm starting to wonder if I might later regret not getting all of the options I originally wanted. But then again, I don't really need a navigation system. I think it's more of a "I just want it to have it" thing. Besides that, it is kind of a pain to use that joystick anyways. But I am really bummed that it doesn't have BT because I love my convex mirrors. But I can always add those myself. I can't remember if it had a tow hitch, but it has the Tow Mode button. Do the LE's come with a standard tow hitch or does that button come on all Titans because they assume you'll get a tow hitch?

I even think I saw this truck on the lot before the accessories were added and I wouldn't even consider it. Makes no sense!

What would you do?

It sounds like your jumping into a truck you don't really want just because of wheels. It's much easier to add wheels to the truck you want than to add all you other stuff to a truck you don't want. Besides, that truck probley has the daystar leveling kit which is garbage. I say wait and get the truck you want. My two cents.

Make it 4 cents.

At a minimum, do a quick spreadsheet on the costs. My guess is that the dealer is likely charging more for the wheels & leveling kit than you could get them for elsewhere.

Also, I think adding Big Tow mirrors (and maybe a hitch and relays) will cost you alot in comparison with the Big Tow option, and you will be lacking some of the other BT features:

BIG TOW PACKAGE $400.00
x x
- Receiver hitch
- Lower final gear ratio (3.36:1); similar to a four-speed automatic 4.10:1
- Additional seven-pin wiring harness plug
- Trailer brake controller pre-wiring on IP
- Transmission temperature gauge
- Extendable tow mirrors
- Heavy-duty battery (710 CCA)

Two things in my opinion:

1) Don't settle! Wait and get exactly what you want. If you jump on something less, you may not regret it right away but, it will happen. Then you'll find yourself trading in on an upside down loan in a year or two, having very high payments you really could have avoided.

2) If the truck is the exact one in the pic you posted, it's not an 05. It's an o4 model. The 05s' have "V8 TITAN" on the front doors.

Everything happens for a reason! If you don't get this one it's because something better is coming down the road for you. I think you really just wanted us to reiterate what you already know. Don't settle. Good luck.

P.S. - All Titans have the TOW MODE. And only ones with the B/T package come with the hitch.

Check your picture again... Looks like BT package to me. It definitely has the hitch and looks like the big tow mirrors as well. As for the Tow Mode button, I believe that is standard on the truck whether you have BT or not.

I would go for the '05 model you mentioned so you can get past the finned diff cover issue at least. And make sure the level kit is the PRG kit.

I think he is just using that picture to show what wheels are on it. He said it's an 05 and Red Brawn. I have that same picture saved that someone posted months ago.

Already done that. I've already been told that I would get everything at their cost ... no more, no less. Which means I probably woudn't be able to get them cheaper anywhere else ... another part of my dilemma.

What you said about the BT is exactly why I've started to question it. But at the same time. If I did get what I wanted and added the accessories myself I'd know that there is another one that looks just like it in my area.

HudsonValleyTitan ... you're right that's an '04 in the photo. I just wanted to use it as a visual. This one is definitely an '05. And I'm all about everything happens for a reason. I found this one by random chance because many things fell into place before I saw it. Long story!

It has the hitch but no mirrors. I would not settle and get what you are looking for plus Hudson is right it looks like a 04 to me. I dont know what they are charging you for the wheels and leveling kit with the tires but chances are you would be better off on your own to go and purchase that stuff on your own. You have to be really happy when you drive off that lot and feel good about the truck that you purchase.

Yah, you might want to go with one with the BIGTOW package because just the mirrors are going to cost you around $350 plus the hitch.

What you might want to do, that is if you really want this truck, is tell them to make this deal happen you want them to throw in the BT mirrors and a hitch.

To tell you the truth, I've never even towed anything with my current truck that does have Big Tow so I can't appreciate the full benefits other than the mirrors that have saved my a$$ several times. But I'm sure I will tow something eventually.

I haven't kept up with the leveling kit posts. What is the difference between the Daystar and the PRG?

I have had my Daystar kit on my Titan for about 8000 miles and had no problems, and I even have the off-road package. You should be fine.

The Daystar kit is a preload coil spacer that has been known to create a much rougher ride and blows the shocks by causing over-extension.

The PRG (PrerunnerGreg) kit is NOT and preload spacer. It is a solid billet aluminum "mounting bracket" that you bolt on. It sits above the top plate of the coil and allows you to keep the factory ride intact (actually better because it gives you more compression travel) and does not have any negative impact on the coil compression rate or the shocks. If you do a quick search, you will learn everything you need to know from all of the satisfied customers. See PRG's post: A New Leveling Kit That Works

Wheel / Tire Combo?

Anybody know what size / brand of wheels and tires are on that black KC? That is the exact look I am going for!
Thanks
