Nav System Option

Hey all new memeber here. I have been browsing this site for a while now and have decided to join since I will be getting my Titan next month. I my serach for a Titan I have pretty much found what I have been looking for. I do havbe one hang up though I want an all black King Cab LE with the Big Tow Package, Off Road Package and the Nav option. I cannot find one with the Nav option in any dealer stock in Northern or Southern California. I had a dealer do a search and they came up the same way. They also told me that it takes 4 months to order one and have it built which seems a little long to me. So does anyone out there have a King LE with those options installed or do they even send the to the dealership??

Also my dealer has said that they will give me a price of 2% over invoice on any Titan so I think that is a fair price as well. Anyways thanks for the help...

Also its nice to find a site that is just deadicated to the Titan....

I honestly would go aftermarket on the Nav, and I have it. You can get a better unit, which does 800 more things 800X better for less than the price of the option.

There is an LE like that around me I think, but I don't think you would want to buy from all the way over here.

After searching, a dealer around the block basically:

Smoke w/ Graphite/titanium interior big tow, nav, OR, side air, split bench seat. If I still wanted the NAV, this is, without question, the setup I would get.

Would you mind telling what aftermarket model you went with and is it installed in the same position as the stock unit or did you install it elsewhere? I dont know much about these Nav systems and I saw that option I thought it would be pretty nice to have. So it was kind of a let down when I couldnt find one. Any info or pics you could provide me would be a huge help. Thanks!

More AVN2454 Pics... has pics for you

Basically here are the differences as I see them:

Aftermarket Unit:

Pros:
CAN play MP3s
CAN play DVDs
Probably can program while moving
Has more overall features

Cons:
Cannot give you all the info the nav comes with: tire pressure, 2 odometers, mpg, service schedule.
Cannot allow you to control certain other features: time for lights to shut off, beeping on door lock (you can still control without NAV, but differently), and other little things.
IS NOT factory, and try as you might will never LOOK factory.

So far I am very happy with my Navi. It has performed flawlessly and I love it. To me, it has many nice features and seems to give a solid readout. Of course, this is my first Navi so I am a little unsure of what aftermarket products offer. I just like the fact that this is already in the dash and doesnt require any aftermarket modification to install. Also, I have read in another Titan website where you can modify your stock Navi to display the same DVD movie you are playing in your DVD system. That way, the front passenger and rear passengers will all have a viewable screen to watch. I will probably do that to mine. Well, good luck in whatever you choose to do. I know one thing, aftermarket or stock, I will never have another vehicle without it. This thing has spoiled me. Its awesome with a captial A baby!

Just curious why would you go with this setup? Is the split bench seat for the front or the back? I really want the captains chairs up front....

I noticed that you have CC model I wonder if the Nav system is more widely available on the CC and if I go with a CC I could also go with a sunroof....man this is to many decisions....

A couple of HUGE "pros" are:

1. Ability to move the GPS to any other vehicle
2. Tremendous price advantage

What spoiled me is the Honda's Navi. Nissan's is crap next to it. It still does the job (most of the time) but Nissan needs to move to touch screen in a big way. They also need to work A LOT on the search feature (which is all but useless). And then there is simple stuff which makes you scratch your head:
why, in G-d's name, would you want to usually search ANYWHERE but the state you are in. At least have it default. The Honda, at least it always searched in a sane area. I dont need to know where a Wendy's is in queens when I am in Rochester. Also, it frequently calculates ridiculous routes...without going into detail, it has calculated routes for me that added no less than 2 hours to a trip that normally takes 6 hours. As soon as I took the road I knew was right, it did re-calculate but imagine if I hadn't know to go that way?

I have the Nav and DVD....

I looked at getting an LE without it. But the cost savings and features of aftermarket didn't suit me. You get the Rear Sonar, the built in controls, the previously mentioned features such as MPG averages, odometers, ability to engage or disengage various options.

One thing I like about the DVD. I use it for my MP3 player by running the wires from my MP3 into the inputs on the face to the DVD player. I get nearly the same volume as the CD and the quality is excellent. (I know that's not the Nav but it's a cool feature). This way, I can listen to a CD in the front while someone listens to MP3 in headphones in rear.

I think the truck will be more desirable on resale as well. Overall, I am very happy with

Also, it is easy to search within a state. You just have to read the manual. Mine always defaults to my home state. It works very very well. In fact, it does more stuff than most people will discover....unless you delve into the very thick manual that comes with it.

I would enjoy the touch screen and there are mods that let you operate while moving, get rid of the nag screen and even put video on the front. The nag screen doesn't bother me but I am going to mod mine so it can be used while driving (by my co-pilot...grin).

The only reason I was lucky enough to get the Navi was because the sales manager at the dealership had specially ordered this truck 4 months prior to it arriving. Luckily, I got the Titan fever the same week the truck came in. Go figure! But, the Navi is apparantly hard to get and my dealer told me that they usually have to order a Titan to get that option. Anyway, I am not sure of the quality of other systems and what they offer, but I am extremely pleased with this system so far. It has everything I need and nothting I dont. I am not a big fan of installing aftermarket stereos, Navi, or DVD systems and they hardly ever look stock and require lots of wiring and modding. But, I am sure that aftermarket equipment is just as good and maybe cheaper. Hard decision to say the least.

WOW it sounds like you sure got lucky. I might look at getting a CC if I can find the NAV option with a sunroof. But there is a big price difference between the KC and the CC.
