What is it with Fords and catching on fire? I remember back in the mid 90's almost all Fords for like 5 model years had to be recalled b/c the steering column could overheat and catch fire.
ya know, this ticks me off. i'm just so disappointed in ford. i really like ford, and always have. my parents have always been ford people. i've owned fords. but ford is making it so hard to like ford these days. great trucks that just happen to be underpowered, best selling suv that has roll-over issues, and then the many fire issues.
i really hope they get it together.....i want to support ford and someday buy a mustang to sit along side my titan.
The galling thing for those with Fords must be the fact that not only is there a recall, there will be no cruise control at all until switches come in and the dealers can get them all taken care of. So for whatever time limit, those people will not have cruise control. Not a catastrophe, but surely annoying if you commute a long distance like me every day.
Dodge had a recall not too long ago about the blower motor fan overheating causing a fire or potentially causing a fire....mine didnt catch on fire, obviously, but apparantly the potential was there!
C'mon baby light my fire...
Try to set the night on FIRE!!!...

Cute, but this is serious. Yes, I find it kinda comical that Ford has to issue this massive recall, but the outcome as a result of the problem isn't funny at all. People are losing their homes, vehicles, or could even die as a result of this problem. The truck that I traded for my Titan was a 2000 Ford F150, one of the very trucks that was affected by this issue. I used to park it in the garage and now knowing that my family was ultimately in danger frightens me. I am sure that Ford will get this issue taken care of as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Remember, this truck is Ford's primary bread and butter.

and what else is interesting is that at current production rates, ford is recalling what would equal 7 years worth of titans. your math lesson for the day!
