Hey HVT...I think what the carbon does........you can't see.....such as odors and spores......as in traditional carbon filters used in many households now.
Again for the cost.....they should have both paper and carbon in one filter......and the odors, mold and spores are in the duct-work system........traditionally so I would prefer they do what the accesories brochures say they do. My 2¢...or $40+.

Let us know what you hear from Nissan, Tom. I haven't installed them yet in my XE. I'm not paying that kind of money for something I can have my filter supplier through work custom make for me.....cheap! In fact, he can probably make me up some that actually are activated carbon.

No carbon as advertised for Titan!!!
Hi RockyMtnTitan..and others wanting the activated carbon filters!!!
Well I got word from NISSAN about the filters and the false add they use for them. They just wiggled and said they have carbon elements in them ...I said where??????? . They are nothing like the maximas carbon filters. The dude kept saying the model # matches the filter.... ......and the cost is for the model # . I said why can't the manufacturer of the Maxima carbon filter make the Titan filter the same??
I also said they should fix the add
So I hope you can get some custom filters made and a group purchase can take advantage of a better filter that does have the carbon. geeez!!!
Wake-up NISSAN !!!!

Expensive filters in all their glory.
Filter part number, note the arrow. This is supposed to face down, writing toward back of truck.
Remove these screws
And these
Filter cover, remove this.
You end up with this.
Pop the two filters in like so.
The filters are not carbon, just plain old paper.

Re: Activated Carbon In Cabin Micro-Filter???
Mine were carbon. I was expecting all white and I thought they were just filthy. After trying to clean them I realized they WERE carbon. Hope I didn't waste the filters trying to clean them. I'm drying them now. I ordered some new ones anway. Dealer wanted $70+ to replace them on my Xterra, I figuredd the cost would be about the same for the Armada or more. I probably saved $100 by doing them myself.
