Angry What's up with Car & Driver

Last year Car and Driver magazine listed the Titan as the "Best Truck" over the big Three and Toyota. I just got my new Car & Driver in the mail and they listed the 5 best trucks. The Ford F150 was featured with Chevrolet SSR (Not even a truck), Dodge Dakota, Dodge SRT, Ford-250, Hummer SUT, NISSAN FRONTIER and the Toyota Tacoma's as the 5 Best Nominees.... Where's the Mighty TITAN! Last years article said that the new comer (TITAN) blew the socks of the others in interior room, power and looks.

What's up here?

The way they rate "the best" for the year is by looking for "new" design changes ect. The Frontier is a new style for '05 so it's in there. The Titan didn't make the list because from '04-'05, They did'nt change hardley anything. Smoke wheels,Power slide back window, tailgate assist. I think that's it.

How does that explain the F-150? It's from 04.

Almost all of those models had significant overhauls for 2005 (except the F-150). Is it possible they are only reviewing new 2005 models?

The "Motor Trend Truck of the Year" award does the same thing and always seemed like crap to me -- who cares if you are the best of the new trucks for a given year. There is usualyl only one full size truck that is new each year anyway...

But did Ford make a change to the F150?

This is part of what was written..." It's still rugged, and its work ethics is undiminished. But simple no longer applies. Ford's investment in the F-150's interior upped the comfort-and-convenience ante for all pickups great and small, and the competition is still playing catch-up.

That a complete 180 from last year."

I figured it out. The senile geriatric pantywastes at C&D like the F150's "Steve Canyon good looks" but not the Titan's "nonstop exhaust roar"

that's exactly what it is!!! makes opening and closing the tailgate much easier for our 10 year old or 82 year old grandma titan owner... unfortunately from what i've read from a previous post/thread you can't order the parts and install them on an '04.
