hey fellow titan owners. i just recently picked up a faint rattle coming from my drivers side door panel. i think it is just above the arm rest. i can only describe the rattle as a faint rattle, almost ticking noise. i can stop the noise when i press against the door panel with my forearm. has anyone experienced this and is there a fix. i am afraid to pull the door panel off as i don't want to f it up. i would greatly appreciate any help with this. i don't really want to take it to the dealership but may have to anyway. thanks, titanrookie
Mine does the same thing. I've brought it to the dealer's attention 2 or 3 times while my Titan was being serviced for other problems. Of course each time I got the stock answer ("Unable to locate problem"). The last time they told me to check TitanTalk and if I hear of any TSB's to bring it to their attention and then they will do something about it. It was such an absurd answer that I just dropped it and left and haven't mentioned it again. My wife has a '02 Xterra and her windows do the same things. I just turn the radio up and try not to hear it. I recently filed a complaint with the BBB for the brakes so I'm just waiting to see what happens with that. I'll deal with all of the rattles later if I need to.
By the way mine only seems to make the rattle noise when the window is up. I traced the problem to the window moving around (pushing on the window makes the noise stop) so I thought that once I got my WeatherTech In-Channel Weatherflectors that they would hold the window steadier and the noise would go away. No luck though. The window still seems loose and the noise is back. I'm also afraid to take the door panel off too.
I noticed a similar "rattle" several times and each time it turned out to be either the driver side or passanger side seatbelt buckle. If no one is using seatbelt (yes I'm guilty often) and the buckle is up higher it taps against the inside door frame very lightly if "just right" . Try sliding buckles down if not in use and see if any change. Just a thought.

mine rattels exactly the same way...just above the driver arm rest. I first thought it was a zipper in my coat, but when I push on the door panel, it stops.
I pulled out on the panel and it felt like the snaps started to give loose...I think it is just the panel rubbing agains the metal door. Some foam strips might need to be glued inside.
i have the same rattle, but luckily i have a great service department and they have been working on finding it each time i bring it in...they ordered me a new arm rest because they said one of the clips was missing...i personally dont think its the armrest because it goes away with the window open but it worth the shot....they have taken the door panel off and didn't find any loose bolts or anything...everything was nice and snug...ill have to pay attention to this thread because i would like to know the fix...but like others said its not too big of a deal to me...
Same deal - goes away with windows down. like a ticking sound from the drivers door. if anyone gets a clue, just post it... drives me nuts cause the truck is so quiet except for this tick over bumps. ME Like Quiet. But I'm getting a flowmaster setup so that will go away soon.......

Same sound in my 05. But I'm getting it from both sides. It started around 400 miles and I have 1600 now. Please post a solution if one is found. I will probably just let the dealer know at the first oil change. I just turn the tunes up and hit the gas and I don't hear it that much. I dooooo love this truck!

Add me to the list. I also noticed that if I crack my window a the tiniest bit...to just let some air in, the window flops a lot and makes a racket. I have bigger fish to fry.

Top 10 Ways You Know You're a Hopeless Procrastinator:
Funny, I have the exact same ticking sound, same exact symptoms. It has nothing to do with the seatbelt because I always wear my seatbelt and it only happens while the truck is driving down the road, and not constantly either (comes and goes). I suspect its some plastic part rubbing against the door metal. I can stop it by pressing against the panel, also.
I had the same ticking sound in my '04 SE KC and I also have it in my new '05 LE CC. I haven't worked on it in my '05 yet due to the fact that I have only had the truck a few days and it hasn't warmed up yet or stopped raining.
I got so annoyed with it in my '04 I finally just took the door apart. I stopped it, but I am not sure exactly what fixed it. but here is what I did:
1) slightly lubed the rubber channel with silicone where the window moves.
2) Removed the Plastic sheet from inside the door after removing the door panel and at the bottom where the opening is, the window regulator cable was flopping around and was tapping the metal with the window up fully, when you bump it down, it puts tension on this cable and stops it from flopping/tapping. You can't just tie these up because they have to be able to move freely, so I just padded the metal where it taps and also added padding to the cables where they rub each other. (sorry, no pictures)
3) Padded the area where the 2 cables go thru the door to the panel for the lock and the door handle, these where also tapping.
4) Padded some of the contact areas the door panel and the metal door near the top of the door, mainly near the back of the door.
5) Rolled the window down, pulled the rubber channel down a little, and at the top-rear area I added tape to take up space between the metal and rubber and made the rubber channel be a tighter fit on the steel.
6) adjusted & greased the door latches
And then I put it all back together.
I'm not sure if one of these fixed it or I just happend to get lucky in the process.
Hope this helps

Had this noise in the 04....thought I got rid of it by getting an 05, but no such luck....
same thing....its a tiny annoying noise....goes away with my elbow, but not comfortable to do that coz its kind of behind me on the door.
Let me know what the heck it is....I'm going to ask the dealer when I take it in also...we'll see!
I have the noise on both sides and it is very annoying. I hate to have to crank up the radio because I like to just listen the the Titan's motor. I've asked the dealer to fix it a few times and they keep saying they can't find the problem. One time they even said that it is probably just caused by the brake judder (which, by the way, they can't seem to fix either!). I know it sounds like a petty little complaint but it's just so damn annoying!
Same problem here. Faint ticking. I had the door apart once, and think I found it. The felt tape they use on the panels, near the top where it's ribbed. It spans across the ribs, and it crinkles if you move it. I tried putting some foam around the area to put pressure against it, but that didn't fix it. I bought some replacement felt, so I'm gonna try again. This time I'll remove their crinkly felt tape and do my own probably on the door side, not the panel.
It's a faint tick, and only on rougher roads, but it is annoying. I can't hear it when the windows down, but I was thinking that's because the wind noise is louder, and against the same ear. I didn't think about it being a loose window, I'll check that as well.
