Update on my truck, should I be worried?

Hey folks, I got home today and found a message on my answering machine about my truck, which has been in the shop since my accident on December 20th. Most of the body work has been done for a while, but they've been waiting for some freakin' parts from Nissan, which I kind of expected would be a problem. Anyways, they haven't been able to get the u-bolts to put my axle back on! They are now going to have some fabricated and they expect my truck to be ready next week. Would you guys be worried about this if it were your truck? I'm wondering if I could run into warranty issues if I have axle or diff problems down the road a bit. I don't mind telling you, I'm nervous about it.

I would be more worried about the frame being straight and everything being in propert alignment than the U-bolts.

If it were me I would let them install the fabricated u-bolts on the condition that when they get the new OEM u-bolts in they install them at no additional charge. If they won't agree to that, I would refuse the fabricated u-bolts and tell them you will not accept anything but Nissan OEM u-bolts. Not that there would be anything wrong with the fabricated ones, but I wouldn't let them do anything that could potentially be hazardous to my safety or my warranty. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't worry about it, but I would have the understanding that they will be replaced with the new ones when they arrive.

Thanks guys, I'll request the new ones if/when they ever arrive. I don't think the frame is bent but trust me, I'm going to want all the details when I pick it up. It sure was ugly but they told me that it looked worse than it was, panels have been replaced on both doors and bed on the drivers side, as well as a section of the cab behind the passenger door. Some welding was required there. If it comes back good as new I'm going to hang on to it for awhile but if I start getting squeaks, rattles, vibes, etc. then I'll bite the bullet and trade it for an 05. What's killing me is that my truck was problem free and now I'm going to have a truck that's been repaired in many of the troublesome areas that have been discussed here. For example, I'm worried about:
- differential (my rear axle took quite a whack and broke free)
- power windows (both doors took a beating)
- interior scratches (I'll be looking over both doors real good)
- mudflaps (being replaced)
- black adhesive vinyl on doors (being replaced)
- new step rail (I've seen posts about paint flaking, never had this one either)

oh well, here's hoping.....what, me worry?

One little thing that is easily missed, check the window tint film for scratches. If they did work on any doors with tinted windows, they have to take the glass out. When the put the glass back, the tint is easily scratched.

Homer, is the work being done by the dealer?
Back in 2000 I got rear ended on my Harley and I was really concerned about the same things as you.
What I found out was that since the Harley dealership was doing the repairs not only did I not have to worry about the wreck affecting my warrenty. Some of the parts being replaced had in fact extended the warrenty for those items.

Good point, the body shop doing the work is owned by a local dealership which sells multiple makes including Nissan, so I'll check with them about warranty issues. Thanks.
