short in power outlet in console

Right console and back of console keep blowing fuses. They told me its a short. Anyone else have these problems? Know what it can be?

Does the fuse blow instantly before you plug anything into the socket or does it blow only when you plug something into the socket? What are you plugging into the socket and how many amps does it draw?

i put a dvd player in back of console and it blew. I think the one i the front never worked. the dealer tested the front console one and said each time they put the fuse in it blew and need to test for a short

Its not real hard to test for the short, unplug the fuse and put a continuity between the side of the fuse that goes to the outlet and ground. If you get tone then you have a short on that side. You likely dont have a short though as it would blow as soon as you change the fuse without anything in. So you could measure resistance between those points and see if you get anything other then infinite. If you actually get a lower reading then infinite, you have a connection thats draining current but not an acutal short. It could be that when you connect anything else you go over the fuse's 15 amp threshhold. If it were one socket, I would say that it was probably bad, but two is unlikely.

You did not hardwire anything into the wires that supply the outlet like a mp3 player or satalite radio did you?

no. i plugged dvd into outlet that is it. Im not sure when nissan tested it what happened they just said the fuse kept blowing after replacing. I doubt they did anything more than replace and retest.
