Buying an extra keyless entry fob on Ebay?

Has anyone bought an extra keyless entry key fob on Ebay? I've been thinking of buying an extra one in case I need it someday. There's always lots of them available on Ebay. Some sellers appear to be dealers in key fobs. Where do they get these "new" ones to sell for so much less than the dealer?

I could be wrong, but I think they got an underground deal going with the tooth fairy, who just helps herself to the key fobs sitting on the bed-side stand.

How do they match your ir code? Do you give them a number off of your fob? Sound shady to me. I would just buy from the dealer rather than giving a possible criminal my money.

AutoZone has aftermarket key fobs. At least its easy to return if it doesn't learn your truck. And they will probably set it up for your truck for you.

Man that seems like a huge open door for criminals. Oh well, I guess it is better than a broken window.

You can buy all the keyfobs you want. There is no "code" programmed into them. They have to be programmed at the dealer to match your vehicle. Also, if you get just one new keyfob and have it programmed for your truck, you have to also bring the other good keyfob with you. They have to reprogram that one as well. Just had one of the wifes Quests fobs replaced.
Anyhow, I wouldn't waste my money on a new keyfob unless you have more than 36k miles. The fobs you have are covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. In our case, with our new Quest, Nissan extended all 04 Quest warrantees to 5/60 bumper to bumper so....I'll still be covered for a while!

The owners manuel has instructions on programing a new key fob into the Titan. The truck will learn the code of the key fob.

The keyfobs off ebay work fine. I got mine for $13.00. Dealer didnt want to replace it since I had dropped it into a puddle. I dont know where they get them but they are original Nissan stuff.
You can reprogram them yourself,I did it no problem. The procedure is somewhere on this site,I did a search and found it.
