Naw, your not crazy. It's the transmission automatically down shifting to hold your speed. Just another little added feature from our Titans.

Well, The tranny's not downshifting that i can tell. The rpm's will stay the same and i will feel a drag of some kind. Like a pulsating feeling. I am not describing it very well...

I get a pulsing surge when going down hill on cruise. I think it may be related to the torque converter uncoupling. Not sure.

Hey tmoran.......the cruise control in the Titan does have an aftermarket feel when in cruise-contol mode on long downhill runs...mine does too. I brought it up to my service manager........he said NISSAN is well aware of the issue. Probably not on the top of their list of issues these days.
Peace-Tom

It feels to me like the fuel is being turned on and off to control the speed. It drives me crazy...or at least crazier. I haven't tried downshifting to see if that stops the surging, but I was going to try it on my next trip. Usually if I am on a long downhill stretch (we have those here in the Mt West), I just cancel it and hold the speed on my own. Nissan needs to work on this one....Are you listening Mr Ghosn?

I think JUMA posted a while back about the high stall torque converter. If your driving down hill manually you will feel that you are just barely on the gas. I think were are right on the edge of when the torque converter dis-engages. On cruise I believe it actually does dis-engage, then we lose speed and the computer engages again by adding throttle. Just a theory I guess. Not sure if that is coming out right. Anyway I believe Jettech also posted on a cure for this pulsing using his $22 spring pack for driveline clunk. I have done this and fixed the clunk succesfully but still have the surge going downhill on cruise.

We all know the tranny has some sort of grade logic to it. It's been spoken about in here forever! We are just now being surprised about it?....lol It's not a cruise control issue. Use the search!

does the Engine Computer retard the ignition timing to reduce power and slow the truck while in cruise control?
